My family is from China and in Chine, we had a saying about how wine could make a person become mad or irrational. This is more than true because in many universities, when the boys have drunken too much alcohol, they could lose their sense. As a result, they would end up doing things which are harmful to other people.
In the past, when I did not get a good grade in my exam, I easily felt depressed and then I would waste my parents’ money to buy tons of bottles of alcohol. In fact, I have learnt from the website that there are more than one hundred of fifty students who are dead due to excessive intoxication in the year of 2010 at SU.
Perhaps, this does not look like a big number but a hundred and fifty students who are dead because of alcohol ended up bringing more than hundreds of people into hell. I think that no parent can stand the death of their children because they had spent more than 18 years to raise them hoping that they would take care of them when they get old. However, it was all gone.
After I read all the information on the internet, I felt so guilty because in the past, I had wasted too much money and too much of my energy in the alcohol that I could endanger myself and inflict unimaginable pain on my parents. In fact, in 2011, more than six hundred thousand college students had suffered from injuries due to drinking too much alcohol. For example, some students simply bumped into the pole when they are walking and holding a bottle of alcohol. However, these students are actually the lucky ones because they have not lost their legs or their hands. In fact, according to what I have read from the newspaper, some students still drive their cars when they are seriously drunk. As a result, they could not stop the brake when they saw the tree or another car which are right in front of them. Many of them have a car accident which ended up putting them in the hospital or they have to go through terrible operation.
I once knew a friend who went to the bar to drink a lot of wine after he broke up with his girlfriend. However, he could not afford to hire a driver so he decided to walk back home as his home was not too far away from the bar.
However, when he was walking on the street, he saw a taxi which was approaching him. He wanted to jump away but he was too wasted that he could not even move his legs due to the fact that his legs were all too numb. Therefore, in the end, the taxi hit him and he was put in the hospital. The worst part is that his family was not wealthy as both of his parents had retired. Therefore, they needed to take out most of their money from the back account so that they would afford the operation.
I felt for this friend and from his experiences, I realized the harm of alcohol if we cannot control ourselves.What is more, from the website, I have learnt how important it is to know how to save a person when this person is wasted. First, if one of our friends is drunk and felt like vomiting, we should hold him tight so that he would not fall down. Once I had read from the newspaper about a girl from China who drank too much wine. For her, she fell down as she was all alone without friends helping her or holding her. However, when she fell down, she did not hit her face on the floor. On the contrary, she hit her face on a part of the chair, which caused her to lose her sight forever. It is indeed a sad story because this girl is as young as me who should be able to explore the world and enjoy one’s life.
I realized that it is my fault to stock too much alcohol in my dormitory. Firstly it could be ignited and if it gets worse, the dormitory could be on fire. Also, it is not healthy to drink too much alcohol as a student. Every day we need to focus our energy on studying and alcohol would be distracting for students to study hard. As a result, I should not waste too much of my parents’ money as well as my energy into consuming alcohol. Also, I should be aware if any of my friends is drunk, I needed to pay attention and be ready any minute because wasted people could easily put themselves in danger. Also, I need to remind my roommates to not buy alcohol to stock in the dorm because it is a place for learning and resting.
