When the modern science had emerge in Europe, it was also the time when the scientific revolution took place at that time, new discoveries in chemistry, in physics, in mathematics as well as in astronomy had been brought up. The scientific revolution was brought to a climax when the important thinker and physicists Newton had published the work Principia, in which he introduced to people in detail about the laws of motion as well as the knowledge about gravitation. Enlightenment actually followed with the scientific revolution which encouraged citizens at the time to understand issues in their lives in a rational way instead of blindly following others’s beliefs. (Porter, 2001)
The scientific revolution as well as the Enlightenment had a deep influence on the religion and citizen’s religious beliefs. Firstly, people like Newton and Galileo promoted the ideas to the public that they needed to question the power of the government in order to get rid of the control of the Roman Catholic Church. For example, in the past the preachers in the church taught people that the idea that the earth is the center of the universe is correct. (Shapin, 1996) However, it caused serious conflicts between the great thinkers and those who guarded the authority of the religion. What is more, people were encouraged to think in a less restricted way and they became more humanistic, which also helped to intrigue the Protestant Reformation, for which a group of people started to insist that they wanted to focus less on ritual and restricted behaviors. (Porter, 2001)
Also, the scientific revolution had a deep influence on the development of economy in many countries in Europe. In fact, for example, in a lot of factories, the leaders had stopped hiring too many employees working inside making pieces of clothing. On the contrary, they paid for a large set of machines such as the steam machines which were able to replace the work of the human beings. As a result, many factories needed too much space or to many people. Gradually, the payment of the staff could be reduced but the machines were three or four times more efficient than the human beings so most of the factories were making more profits than ever. Therefore, the scientific revolution had promoted the economic development in a lot of countries. However, it ended up bringing bad results for the politics because as many developed nations got more powerful, they needed more resources or a larger market to make sure their economy grew steadily. Therefore, they chose to invade other less developed nations in hope of robbing them of their resources and forcing these nations to open their market. For example, China and nations in Africa were some of the victims of the scientific revolution in the European nations.

To conclude, there were many great thinkers in the Enlightenment and Scientific Revolution who helped people to think in a less restricted manner and free them from the control and manipulation of religion. In addition, the invention and discoveries of the advanced technology helped many nations in Europe to develop faster because they could us the fossil fuel power or the electricity. However, the fast development of some nations ended up causing international wars because these powerful nations like Spain and France needed to occupy and open the market of other developing nations to satisfy their own development. The great thinkers like Newton and Galileo had brought new ideas in the scientific field to the public which made a contribution in their economic development and the progress of religion.
