To put it into more specifically, America is afraid that China will replace it to become the global superpower in that China is developing really promisingly nowadays. So it is described that many U.S. presidential candidates all put forward their own opinion of rejecting Chinese president Xi Jinping’s visit to the United States and they even keep a hostile attitude toward this visit. But luckily, the summit between Chinese president Xi Jinping and U.S. President Barack Obama will not directly come out as failure and these two country representatives will both strive for what is best for their own country. They both understand that the conflict between China and the United States is hard to be completely avoided. But what matters is that when a certain conflict occurs, what they should do is to try to solve it with their citizens’ rights being protected to the utmost. Thus it can be easily understood that why country’s decision makers will favor a peaceful way of dealing with conflicts.
My parents live in China and they pay close attention to almost all the international issues after I come to study abroad in that they would like to know about my situation at the first moment so that they can help me or guide me in time. Concerning the event of Chinese president Xi Jinping to the United States, my mother told me the other day that she and my father had chatted about that with my neighbors one night. What has to be especially mentioned is that one of my neighbors is a public servant so that he has to from time to time get the first hand information about the nation’s big events. He said that our president Xi Jinping had delivered a lot of speeches during the period of his visiting the United States and he especially stated that Xi Jinping had emphasized that China is now conducting anticorrosion strictly and will continue to perform in that way in approaching days as before. While the fact is that other countries hold that China’ anticorrosion behavior is simply a behavior to remove different parties. When confronted with such doubt, Xi Jinping will insist till the end with our country’s interests protected, during which he will try not to offend other countries if possible.
J. Stapleton Roy, a former U.S. ambassador to China, says that he may be one that can quite well understand the relationship between China and the United States (Marsh, Christopher. 2003). The rationale why he will deem in that way is that he is one that has in the meantime experienced for a long time in both countries so that he may know something about both countries’ attitude toward the foreign countries. As far as he is concerned, both China and the United States would like to choose the specific way out that may cause the least harm to its citizens and they will prevent the incidence of war to the best of their abilities. The war is too destructive and devastating to people and it will lead to fatal blow to the society. After that, he proposes that China and the United States will get the U.S.-China relationship right by every possible means with the precondition of promising the mutual interests.
To sum up, the relationship between China and America is neither hostile nor friendly but it is a kind of relationship that is dedicated to guarantee the interests of both countries.
