According to the literatures, people who live in the turbulent societies like the war time have the strongest desire to utopia. Today is the same, some area like the middle east and some tribes in Africa still have years of conflict. Where is the war, where is the refugees, as well as the diseases and poverty. The refugees are struggled to live, they would do anything to keep their families and themselves alive, some of them would do some bad things. For example, due to the refugees bring too much terrible influence, the Hungarian announced that the frontier near the Serbia would be closed recently. By this way, the people in Hungarian could be protected, but the refugees in Serbia should to find new ways to escape from war area to live. Therefore, I want to build an utopia to save people who live in war area. In my utopia, people can enjoy a peaceful life without poverty, hunger and conflict. And I think this is the way utopia has been born, people want wonderful things when they in an unsatisfied environment, even through they never met these wonderful things.
Actually, utopia is a conception in western culture, but its idea is universal. In ancient China, there is a same conception called “Datong society”. Its main idea is as same as utopia, it refers to a wonderful society. There is no hierarchy, ruthless exploitation and other conflict among people, everyone would treat orphan and elder people whom is childless as their own child or parents. Apart from that, due to all the people in Datong society can live well, no one would engage in theft or other bad things and people would treat each other totally genuine. Therefore, in Datong society, everyone has equivalent political rights and treasure, it is even unnecessary to use money and build a government.
Not only in difficult time, even today lots of people dream to live in utopia. In China, the most direct reason may because of the housing price. In recent seven years, due to many reasons the housing price is keep rising all over the country especially in metropolitan area. For example, the average housing price is as four or five times as the monthly local median income in some big cities, in other words, a person needs at least 20 years to earn enough money to buy an house if he or she has the median income. Due to an increasing number of young people can not afford to an house when they plan to build their own family, there are many families have to live in one house with three generations. Further more, the housing price would not drop obviously because the complex profit chain and economic principles, even government involved in it.
As a result, people who can not afford the house are wondering that if they live in the utopia world, this is also a part of my utopia, everyone could have a large and beautiful house. Actually, the problem of housing price is a critical issue in current society. Having an house to rest and raise family is a basic condition for a person, once this thing becomes too difficult to realise, people will have a low happiness index and complain for the society. People have to find more things to earn money, some of them even engage in risky or illegal activities, on matter what methods they chose to do they would not feel happy. Also, people prefer to save their money or invest all of their money to buy house, then most of cash flow would come into the real estate and it would make other industries depressed as well as the whole economic environment of this country. Although there are still some rich people who can afford to the house with high price, they would be against by the majority people who can not having an house. Finally, the housing price issue makes the society unstable.
In my opinion, utopia is only a wonderful illusion in people’s minds, it could not come true in reality. Firstly, the condition for building an utopia society is too difficult to achieve, probably we should make the current world clear and rebuild everything. Apart from that, even an utopia society has been built it would not exist for a long time. Because human beings have many emotions, except love there are jealousy, greed and the desire of sybaritic, therefore, the totally equal rights and obligations can not be achieved then the polarization of treasure and social status is just a matter of time. Even so, I still think that people need the concept of utopia, it would make their life full of hope.
