这是一篇关于职业规划的思维导图文章,作者从过去的经历总结了自己的能力并参考了其他同学的思维导图,觉得未来更倾向于有挑战性的花时间少的工作。
a) The main reason that drew me to explore the opportunities I did can be somewhat like self-examination. I wanted to know what I have learned or improved from these experiences and which profession suited me better, so that I can do a rough choice about my future career path, and also, try to find what kind of personality I want to be most and growing towards it with every effort.
After visiting my classmates’ mind map posts, I was so surprised about every individual’s amazing extracurricular life! Like, one student worked in a red wine foreign trade company as executive assistant, but she benefited more than that. She helped in holding several large-sized wine tasting and took in charge of guests’ accommodation and transportation. Through many interesting small talks with those wine professionals, she learned detailed history and brands and colors of red wine. Now she can be a half professional wine taster herself! So a practice is not only a practice, it’s more of an intimate research into a new industry. There is another student who attended AISEC and volunteered in Africa for several months, which gave him much more thinking towards clean water resource and children’s health. And he planned a one gap year for volunteering in Africa after graduating…That’s why I think every opportunity all has its own unique points. One can’t live all kinds of life and learn all kinds of knowledge, but one can try to enrich his experience by trying more kind of industries and life. So if given other opportunities, I will definitely accept them.
b) Take me for example; I have enhanced different abilities in those three work experience, which has also been depicted clearly on my mind map. Though peer tutoring, which basically is I taught a China-interested girl Chinese, I finally understood how difficult Chinese is!!...Haha, just kidding. But when I started to view Chinese in a foreigner’s way, I found its beauty and amazingness. For a long time I considered Chinese a language just granted for me, so actually I never have a good thought on it until I started taught someone who knew nothing about it! I taught her basic knowledge, spelling, strokes and characters, and it’s like I was learning Chinese for a second time! I was surprised at how many strokes there are, and they were put together to a character as an elaborate picture; I was surprised at how complex a word can be and how delicate its meaning can manifest; there are even countless characters with the same spelling…but how did I get them sorted in all these years? The girl I taught has already got headache as soon as she saw Chinese, on the contrary, I have fall in love deeply with my native language. This experience gave me an important lesson -----never ignore the beauty in the language and the culture that besides you; even sometimes you think you know them too well. In another interesting practice, I, together with an Iranian programmer, developed a mobile game and tried to promote it on the website. The result wasn’t too ideal, but the process can’t be better. I learned a lot about e-channel, website marketing and platforms. We discussed how to name the game and how to make some interesting levels and plug-ins. This project not only improved my self-learning ability hugely, but also brought me the concept of Internet ------- how to dig interesting and valuable information in the Internet age, and how to benefit from the Internet. I think it’s really what I enjoyed most. Apart from those two experiences, I also worked as a real bank staff for two months-------yes, the real one. My deepest memory was that’s the days of really many people and really many jargons. I got to deal with a lot of clients every day, guide them to do business and gave them advice on financing. Communicating and help others was really nice, but sometimes I might also meet rude person and being a doormat, which was not fun at all. I got to get up early and back home late, six days out of a week. However, this job taught me most was the well-discipline and service awareness. Something you may don’t want to do but you have to, because this is what a job sometimes means.
In a word, these experience all brought me a lot, but they also unveiled my numerous shortcomings. Like procrastination and a bit of introversion in my personality, and a huge lack of professional knowledge. I was always trying to do better, and other outstanding peers and colleagues gave me all the reason to overcome the obstacles and flourishing into a better adult.

3) My preferred future was an interesting and challengeable job combined with much money and few working hours…now I realized this kind of job isn’t exist, haha. But from my work experiences, at least I understand what I love and what I’m good at. I love communicating and creativities, and I prefer a company with young and brave style instead of old and rigid ones, so I personally think the Internet may be an ideal industry for me. I need to learn and try more, from basic working skills, Internet technologies, to being more brave and opening. Famous comedian Jim Carrey has said that “You can fail at what you don’ want, so you might take a chance on doing what you love.” And that’s also what I learnt from my three working experiences.
