How do ethics influence human behavior in organizations' What can you do to be a good corporate citizen and use ethical behavior' I believe that people in general start off with heart and mind in the right place and they know the difference between right and wrong. Ethics within an organization/corporation is decided by the top heads. The influence is monkey see monkey do. Although, the chain of command is in place; the employees or members are becoming more and more like robots. The “worker bees” may not like what they have to do in order to keep a job, the economy is bad so everyone holds on the position held to make ends meet and to survive. Most corporate citizens have been desensitized to the community and the environment. The main focus is money, money, money. As we all know, money can create a rise and fall effect in corporations. The downfall occurs when corporate citizens lose sight of ethics personally and professionally. The tower falls and the innocent become victims. The corporate and community must co-exist because negotiations are ongoing between the two giants. It is typically selling the corporation. Citizens of the community grade the corporate world and corporate citizens provide feedback. Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is corporate statement or mission for the community and the environment. The argument from the community is “How is this corporation going to benefit the community.” Corporate citizens should be prepared to sell it. To the community, excellent service, more job opportunities, and revenue for the community are what they want to hear. The hard part is finding people that will bring what is actually being fed to the community by the corporation. This is what makes a good corporate citizen. Gain trust from the community and the corporation; be honest with yourself and others. Believe in yourself, community, and the corporation. Someone not afraid of change or speaking their mind is need as a good corporate citizen.
