Abstract This paper will explain the Ethics Awareness Inventory survey that I completed along with how my values correspond to Kudler Fine Foods. I will explain how the assessment allowed me to identify my values using William Institute’s Evaluation Survey. This survey is based on a C.O.R.E system. Business Ethics What is Ethics or even Business Ethics' When that question is asked most of the time people have a hard time answering it especially in the business world. Most people will say that ethics is simply knowing the difference between right and wrong and then making sound decision based on what you have learned as a child. Business ethics is a little more complex than just knowing what is right and wrong. Business ethics looks at ethical principles and moral or ethical problems that exist in a business setting. It mostly applies to any aspect of business that is related to the conduct of people and business organizations as a whole. My Personal Values Assessment Completing the William Institute’s Evaluation Survey was very interesting. The Ethics Awareness Inventory allowed us to determine our values with respect to ethics. My ethical profile showed that I was mostly aligned with character and least aligned with equity. When it comes to character I tend to base my ethical perspective on what it is to be good rather than what it is good to do. I feel that ethics should focus on ways to help people achieve moral excellence. If I have to judge whether an individual’s actions are ethical, I will look past the actions and look at the person character alone. In my assessment uprightness and integrity are my key factors. I want to see the virtue in people which include traits as honor, justice, and benevolence. For myself I believe that virtue is reflected in the quality of an individual’s character and character is more important than an individual’s actions. Learning about my ethical style was interesting. What was described in my ethical style I believe to be true and also agree with it. I believe that ethics relies on the ability of individuals to make sound moral judgments. Ethics is based on exemplary character to make the difficult choices. In my everyday life I value qualities such as wisdom, honesty, and integrity. If someone is not honest to me it really gets under my skin and I end up not wanting that person to be around me. I want to see that the person is able to make choices between conflicting rules or standards of right and wrong without already possessing good character. With my ethical style I strive to be a person of wisdom and integrity. Kudler Fine Foods and My Personal Values When it comes to Kudler Fine Foods values and my own personal values they are similar and then there are differences as well. Kathy prides herself for providing her customer’s with good service and good food. She tries to be present every day at each store that way she will have interaction with her customers and be able to get their suggestion and feedback. I know when I am at work I pride myself and my character on giving my customer’s the best service possible. I like hearing if the customer has suggestions in order to make the company better so I can take them back to my manager and have them implemented. Kathy likes to be a “superhero” and do most of the company’s everyday tasks on her own. This comes down to her not trusting someone to do it for her. I know I have that problem myself when I have to work with others and have to rely on someone. Most of the time I just want to do the task on my own and call it a day. Based off of my assessment I have to start looking at that person’s character a little more closely and if I do this on a regular basis then I will be able to open up and trust that person. I feel if Kathy does this same thing then she would have more time to actually talk to her customer’s on a more regular basis and have more time to do personal things instead of working seven days a week. Conclusion In conclusion, I have learned about myself through the William Inventory Evaluation Survey. I was able to see that I value character more than I value equity. I believe that a person’s character is based on uprightness and integrity. I value traits such as honor and justice. I have determined that Kathy and I both have trust issues and want to do things on our own, but have also realized that if we look at the character of someone then it will allow us to see that person can be trusted.
