One of my goals for the future is to be happy regardless of what I choose to do. I want to be satisfied with my decisions, to be able to accept and forgive, and most of all to be able to live up to the expectations I have for myself. I realize I cannot set my goals and dreams on the basis of others and I need to achieve things for myself. I will only accomplish my goal in being happy when I am able to live my life for myself and still able to provide love and support to others.

Another goal of mine is I would like to be a role model for my younger brother specially and also to all my younger cousins, nieces, nephews, and to all the young kids out there to never give up hope. Someday, I will reach my destination in life when I earn my degree and from there it will open up new doors and opportunities with so many good possibilities to offer for my family and me. My mother will be very proud seeing me at the edge of the world very successful. I'm doing all of this for her. I want her to be proud of me. After my graduation, I will find a better job to support my mother and my younger brother.

My other goal is to give my mother a better life than what we have now. They deserve the best and I would like to offer that to them when I finish my education. I believe nothing is impossible in this world as long you are determined to make it possible. If I don't finish school and if I don't strive for my very best I would amount to be nothing to this world and it will not open any or new doors in my life. In spite of financial hardship, I am proud of myself that I stayed strong and challenge this cruel world. I have two brothers who dropped out of school and did not go back at all. They have engaged in risky behavior and involved themselves with alcohol and drugs. I have seen young adults at my age that lost interest in life because of poverty and misfortune, instead they engaged in dangerous activities such alcohol, drugs, gangs and continued to become a headache in the community and society.

I want to make my life better and I want to live with a good quality life in the future. I realize I don’t have to have all the answers rights now, and that it’s probably better that I don’t. I have also figured that no matter what I do in life, I will never be 100% completely satisfied; and that’s how it should be, always looking for something more, always striving for something better. As of now, I have the highest education in our family. No one in my family has finished college. I would be the first one in my family to finish college and that's my ultimate goal. -w
