When people ask me why you would like choose Sociology as my graduate major, I would say it was evolved from my penchant for psychology, which motivates me to explore the society from an unique perspective. Our society is organized by people, while people is controlled by psychology, and therefore, I would like to interpret the society from the perspective of psychology. Moreover, Sociology can make me much more crave for peace, which could, in turn, drive me to learn more about other culture. It is for this reason that I have developed a keen interest for Sociology, and choose your program for your undergraduate study. 

Previously, I graduated from St Anthony Catholic High School in San Antonio, and I am currently attending University of Texas at Arlington. In fact, I was a CAP student of 2013, and I did a good job in most of subjects, but I did not succeed this program due to my flunk in one of my English courses. I took the make-up summer course, and I managed to improved my GPA, which later ensured my entry into University of Texas at Arlington, majoring in Psychology. For me, choice outstrips efforts, and after thorough consideration, I would like to abandon my previous option, and apply for your university, because I found out Sociology was the most suitable option for my undergraduate study. 

Back to my high school days, I was also a key player of school’s female basketball team, and I was exceptionally fond of it. At my spare time, I always trained myself very hard, and I also frequently, interacted with our coach with regard to basketball skills. So, my basketball skill saw an impressive improvement, and I also managed to win the eighth place in NIKE basketball match in Guangzhou. 

On the other hand, throughout my high school days, I had also been an active social activity volunteer, and I’d frequently dropped at the Public Shelter in Shenzheng in my summer vocation. I thought such a practice was an unique way to learn about the society, to gain exposure to the living conditions and sate of mind of the abandoned, and also to understand China’s welfare system. At that shelter, the orphans and the homeless were actually well cared in terms of material provision. However, my instinct drove me again to see this situation from the perspective of psychology. So, I helped them with their meals, and cleanups, meanwhile talking with them, to get an overall picture of what they were thinking about. These people had been deprived from parental care since they were kids, and they were mentally improvised. 

As for my career plan, I thought to learn Sociology is more than to learn about society, and its ultimate purpose is to make a change. Therefore, I envisage myself as a socialist, committing to investigating, and called on people to make a change of the impoverishment of kids in the developing nations.

As a century-old universities, your university could prepare me powerful faculties, state-of-the-art teaching contents, and unique career opportunity that is founded no match elsewhere. By taking your major of sociology, I would blend to the melting-pot campus environments, and learn about the a variety of cultures, that will be the best part for a sociology major.
