Before her unconscious body hit the floor, Peter struck her three more times. * he lifted her and carried her to the bedroom and threw her down on the bed where he ripped open her black leather jacket and blue shirt. Pulling up her bra to reveal her breasts, he then pulled her jeans down to her ankles. * With a chisel he had removed from his pocket, he began to stab at Tinas exposed stomach. As she approached the playground, she did not see Peter Sutcliffe lurking in the shadows waiting to pounce on her as she passed by. * Two children found her body at 9:45 am on Sunday 26 June near a wall inside the playground where Peter had dragged her. She was lying face down, her skirt was disarranged and her white halter-neck top was pulled up to expose her breasts. Peter had struck her three times on the back of the head with his hammer and then stabbed her repeatedly in the chest and once in the back. * Wilfred Mcdonald was told of his daughters death by 2 uninformed police officers and he immediately lost the will to live. he soon developed asthma and wouldnt work and just sit at home all day. This lasts for 2 years, and after 2 years he died with a broken heart. * The newspapers were saying that prostitues that had been killed deserved whatever punishment they had.   Maureen Long * While the police worked hard gathering information in relation to Jayne MacDonalds murder, Peter Sutcliffe planned to kill again. It was Saturday night 9 July 1977 when Peter left Sonia at home in Tanton Crescent with her parents. Driving the white Corsair with the black roof, he headed for Manningham Lane and the red-light Lumb Lane district of Bradford. * maureen lived in Farsley, near Leeds, and had also made plans to spend Saturday night in Bradford. * She spent the first part of the evening visiting various pubs in Bradford, including one where she met her estranged husband and made arrangements to spend the night at his home in Laisterdyke, Bradford. * The rest of the evening she spent at tiffanys in the Bali Hai discotheque, where she danced and drank until just after 2.00am. As she waited in the long queue at a nearby taxi rank to get a lift to her husbands home. * Peters white car pulled up and he offerd her a lift, he drove her to bowling back lane where he kit her at the back of her head, As she lay on the ground, he stabbed her in the abdomen and back. * Peter stopped as he herd a dog barking nearby, so he quickly drove away * His car was seen leaving the area by a nightwatchman who was working nearby, at 3:27 am. He described the car as a Ford Cortina Mark II, white with a black roof. * The next morning, two women who lived in a caravan heard someone cry for help so they went to check whats happend. They found Maureen long lying on the floor seriously injured. the inguries would have killed most people but maureen survived. * She was rushed to hospital in Bradford where she underwent emergency surgery. Later she was transferred to Leeds for major neurological surgery. Oldfield begged doctors for an opportunity to talk with Maureen before they commenced surgery. * Maureen tried hard to recall as many details as she could. She remembered leaving Tiffanys and the car that had stopped to give her a lift. The man, as she recalled, was white, with a large build, about thirty-five with light brown, shoulder-length hair; he would have been about six foot, with puffed cheeks and big hands. * maureen didnt remember anything when she came out of surgery. * Police had already contemplated the possibility of the killer being a taxi driver. He would have a good knowledge of the area, enabling him to know the best haunts for prostitutes and the quiet, secluded areas that he could take them to. * They had started questioning taxi drivers after Tina Atkinsons murder and now they increased that line of investigation. * Most were quickly cleared, but one taxi driver, Terry Hawkshaw was not. The police were not completely satisfied with his explanations about his whereabouts on the nights of the murders. * He lived alone with his mother in a central location to all of the killings. He was thirty-six years old and his appearance fitted the general description of the killer. * Terry hawkshaw was watched by the police 24hours every day. The police followed him everywere and searched his car and house. They took samples of his blood and some of his hair. The police took all of his clothes and even his car carpets and they even had to check in dustbins and his uncles tool shed   Jean Bernadette Jordan * Peter bought himself another second hand Ford Corsair, a red one to replace the white Corsair he had sold on 31 August. * 1 October 1977, By 9:30 pm, Jean Bernadette Jordan was climbing into the car with him near her home in Moss Side, Manchester. Jean, born in Scotland, had moved to Manchester after running away from home at the age of sixteen. * They both decided to live seperate lives but still living together when she died * She had met Alan Royle on the day of her arrival and moved in with him. Two years later they had their first child, Alan. Two years after that, their second son James was born. * Earlier on the evening, 1 October, as Jean poured Alan a glass of lemonade, he told her that he would be going out for the evening. * He left her watching television but she was gone when he returned later. He assumed that she had decided to go out with her girlfriends. but she was out with peter sutcliffe to a quiet area of vacant land between allotments and the Southern Cemetery where she was to have sexual intercourse with him for £5. * Before getting out of the car, she put the £5note in a hidden compartment of her handbag. * Once she got out of the car, Peter used his hammer to hit Jean over the head a total of thirteen times. He then hid her body in undergrowth near the fence between the cemetery and the allotments. * Peter then calmed down and went back to his new house * Peter and sonia decided to throw a house warming party on sunday evening * Peter began to worry about the £5 note he had given Jean. It was a brand new note and it may be possible to trace it back to him. * By Sunday 9 October, there still had been no word of the discovery of Jeans body in the papers. * It was almost midnight when Peter offered to take some of his relatives home in the red Corsair, while Sonia went to bed. * After dropping his guests at their homes, Peter did not immediately return to Garden Lane, instead he drove over the Pennines once again. He found Jeans body exactly as he had left it, but her handbag was missing.   * He tore Jeans clothes from her body, and then stabbed her over and over again. Eighteen times he stabbed at her breasts, chest, stomach and vagina. They were fierce slashing swipes, some 8 inches deep. One extended from her left shoulder down to her right knee. When the rage subsided. * It wasnt until he read the report in the paper on the evening of 10 October that he became concerned. The report described the young woman, who had been found by a neighbour at midday, as having shoulder-length auburn hair and listed some of the clothing found. What the report didnt say was that her blackened head was unrecognisable. It had been flattened with the severity of the many blows she had received. Her belly was gaping open and putrefaction was evident. * At the Manchester C.I.D. Headquarters, Alan showed Det. Chief Supt. Jack Ridgeway a recent photo of Jean, but it was impossible for Ridgeway to tell if it was the same woman. Ridgeway suggested that there might be something in the house that would have Jeans fingerprints on it. Alan immediately remembered the lemonade bottle that was still sitting where Jean had placed it over a week before. The prints on the bottle were a definite match with those of the corpse. * On Saturday 15 October, Jean Jordans handbag was found only 100 yards from where her body had lain the week before. * The money that Alan believed she'd been carrying was missing, but in a hidden pocket at the front of the bag, police found a five-pound Bank of England note. The Bank of England established that the note was part of a consignment sent to the Shipley and Bingley branches of the Midland Bank, right in the heart of the Yorkshire Ripper area.   Marilyn Moore * 14 December, marilyn moore left her friends house in Gathorne Terrace, near the Gaiety pub at 8.00pm. As she walked along Gipton Avenue towards her home, she noticed a dark coloured car drive slowly toward her. Sure that the driver was a potential client, she began to walk to Leopold Street where she assumed his car would next appear. * The car was parked near a junction known as Frankland Place and the driver was leaning against his door * She discribed his as "about thirty, stocky build, around 56" tall with dark, wavy hair and a beard. He was wearing a yellow shirt, a navy blue/black zip-up anorak and blue jeans, and appeared to be waving to someone in a nearby house." * He drove her to a vacant lot in Scott Hall Street, about a mile and a half away, he told her that his name was Dave and that the person he had been waving to was his girlfriend. * As "Dave" came behind her to open the door, Marilyn felt a searing, sickening blow on the top of her head. * She screamed loudly and attempted to protect her head with her hands. As she fell to the ground, frantically grabbing her attackers trousers as she fell, she felt further blows before losing consciousness. * A dog barked at the sound of Marilyns screams and "Dave" left before he could finish "the job." * Slowly, Marilyn managed to get herself to her feet and stumbled towards a telephone. Before she could, a man and woman, noticing the blood running from her head, stopped to help and called an ambulance. * She was rushed to Leeds General Infirmary for an emergency operation. * She would stay there until just before New Year's Eve, but it would be a long time before she could face returning to Leeds. * Back in Leeds again where she returned to work as a prostitute, she continued to suffer from depression. * She still has a hole in the back of her head and scars all over her scalp. * investigators knew she was a victim of the yorkshire ripper and by the end of january, the police thought the yorkshire ripper got scared from the last attack. Yvonne Pearson * Yvonne was killed in bradford on January 21 1978 Saturday night 9:30 pm but her body wasnt found untill the end of march * she was 21 years old when she died and she was a prostitute * On the night of her murder, she left her 16 year old neighbour to babsit her 2 children aged 2 years abnd 5 months while she goes to the flying dutchman pub * She left the pub around 9:30PM to look for a client * that night had found Peter Sutcliffe helping move his parents to a new home near to the Bingley centre. His brother Mick and his father John had assumed that he wanted to get home to Sonia as the reason for not staying for a drink. However, Peter Sutcliffe bypassed his home when driving from Bingley to Bradford and was soon cruising the territory of Lumb Lane. * Peter saw yvonne and they agreed to a price of 5 pounds so they drived to waste ground at the back of Drummond's mill, where his father worked. * When Yvonne got out the car, peter hit her over the head several times with a heavy walling hammer, which he had kept under his car seat. * Almost immediately, another car appeared and pulled in alongside his. He pulled her body beside an old sofa, and, to stop her from moaning and making noise, he grabbed handfuls of horsehair from it and began stuffing it into her mouth and down her throat, at the same time as holding her nose. * When the car left, he dragged her trousers down, bared her breasts, and proceeded to start kicking her in the head and and on the body. * At one point he jumped down on her chest with the weight of both feet. * He hid Yvonne Pearson by throwing soil, rubble, and turf on her body, and then covering the makeshift grave with the old sofa. * The next monday, yvonne was reportedly missing, but some thought she had commit suicide to to avoid her impending court appearance. * there was no information about where she would have been * On Easter Sunday, March 26 1978, a passerby saw an arm sticking out from under the old sofa, he approached what he first thought was a tailor's dummy. Yvonne Pearson, her head beaten unrecognisable and her body rotting, was finally discovered.   Helen Rytka * Helen was a 18 year old prostitute when she died on the 31st January 1978 Tuesday night 9:25 pm in huddersfeild * She was murderd 10 days after yvonne pearson * Helen Rytka and her twin sister Rita were fairly new to the prostitution trade. * On January 31st, Helen and Rita Rytka left their flat at around 8:30 pm to patrol their beat in the concentrated red-light area in Great Northern Street with it's railway viaduct arches and timber yard. At approximately 9:10 pm, Rita saw her sister get into a dark-coloured car on the other side of the street. Rita was shortly picked up by a man in a Datsun. * Helen came back first where the yorkshire ripper saw her * Peter convinced her to go with him and they would be back really quickly * With her back to him, trying to get into the rear of the car, Sutcliffe swung his hammer, but it caught the roof of the car and only grazed Helen Rytka, who assumed he had hit her with his hand. Terrified, she said, "There is no need for that, you don't even have to pay." Sutcliffe had expected her to immediately shout for help. When she said, "What was that'" he replied, "Just a small sample of one of these,' and then he hit her hard on the head with the hammer and she crumbled to the ground and began making a loud moaning noise. * He then suddenly realised that what he was doing was in full view of two taxi drivers who were parked nearby, but were oblivious to what was happening. * Peter grabbed her by the hair and dragged to the end of the wood yard. While she had stopped moaning, she wasn't dead yet, her eyes were open and her hands were up to ward off further blows. * He then got on top of her and covered her mouth with his hand while she was still struggling. He told her to keep quiet and she would be all right. As she had got him aroused moments earlier, he went ahead with the sex act "as the only means to keep her quiet". She was the only one of his many victims that he had sexual intercourse with. * He hit her on the back of her head badly with a hammer, then dragged her to the front of the car and proceeded to throw her belongings away. Helen Rytka was still alive, he went to his car and grabbed a knife and then stabbed her several times through the heart and lungs. Before leaving, he hid her body behind a stack of timber. * When peter went home, he washed all the blood of his clothes and knife and put the knife back into the kitchen drawer * Rita was waiting for her, but she was over 20 minutes so she went back home, and after 3 days she reported it to the police * On Friday, 3rd Febuary, She was found at 3PM * She had been covered with a sheet of asbestos. Her clothes had been scattered over a wide area, one of her shoes was found twenty yards away. Her bra and black polo-neck jumper had been pushed up above her breasts, but other than her socks, all other clothing had been removed. There were three stab wounds to the chest, including indications of multiple stabs through the same wounds, and scratch marks on her chest.   Vera Millward * The police had recived a letter for a man claiming to be the yorkshire ripper, the letter mentioned that his next victim would be an old woman * His next victim was vera millward, vera was 40 years old (the letter was right) * She was a prostitute and was killed 3 and a half months after Helen rytka * She was killed on May 16 1978 Tuesday night 11:00 pm at Manchester * in 1976 and 1977, she had 3 big operations and she only has one lung, she also had cronic stomach pains * She left her house at 10PM the night of her murder and told her jamacan husband shes going to buy ciggarettes and come back but her husband did not expect her to be home for a few hours * on tuesdays and thursdays, she had a regular client who would always wait outside her flat in greenham avenue and flash his lights on and off * This man didnt come that night so she went around the street to look for other clients * Peter and Vera drove to Manchester Royal Infirmary * After getting out of the car, Sutcliffe attacked her with a hammer, and Vera tried to fight him off. * A man later claimed to have heard three screams for help from the hospital grounds, but decided they were from a patient at the hospital. After he had killed her with the hammer, peter dragged her to a spot by a fence, and began to stab her with a knife. * Vera Millward's body was found around 8:00 am the next morning when six workers arrived in two vans to do gardening at the Manchester Royal Infirmary. They saw Veras body but thought it was a tailor's dummy lying near a temporary fence. One of the men, Jim McGuigan, walked over to take a closer look, he was horrified to realise that it was the body of a dead women. * An examination of the scene is described by Tony Fletcher in his book "Memories Of Murder: The great cases of a finger-print expert": "From the position of tyre tracks, footprints, blood and the spot where the body was found it was assumed that the murderer had driven through the opening in the wire mesh at the southern end of the compound and had veered sharply to the right; he had then reversed his vehicle until the bonnet was pointing towards the exit, ready for a quick getaway. We were fortunate to find and cast the impressions made by all four tyres of the suspect vehicle. From these casts and the measurements obtained, the scientists at the North-West Forensic Science Laboratory were able to prepare a list of only eleven vehicles within the suspect range, one of which was the Ford Corsair that the murderer was eventually known to be using at the time of the attack." * Many prostitutes became scared so they gave up the game for a while but their pimps would threaten and blackmail them that they would have to go back into the streets again * On the 8th November 1978, Peters mother, Kathleen Sutcliffe died of myocardial infarction and ischaemic heart disease   Josaphine Whitaker * Peter sent George Oldfield another letter Saliva tests were taken on the envelope, and this time they achieved a result. Saliva taken from under the envelope flap indicated the rare blood group B, the same as that of Joan Harrisons killer. * In this letter, he mentioned that his next victim would be an 'old slut' * His letter was wrong as his next victim was a 19 year old, Josaphine Whitaker * Josaphine was killed on April 4 1979 Wednesday night 11:55 pm in halifax * The night of her murder, she went to her grandparents house showing them a new £60 watch she just brought * She was invited to sleepover that night but she needed to get home and insisted she would be fine walking home herself * Peter was out drinking that night with Trevor Birdsall, when they left, he dropped Trevor off to his house. * After he dropped of trevor, around 11:30 pm he had driven to Halifax in his sporty Sunbeam Rapier and was cruising around the quiet residential district of Bell Hall and soon gravitated towards the playing fields of Savile Park. * He spotted Josaphine walking by herself, He quickly parked, put a hammer and giant rusty Philip screwdriver, which he had sharpened into a bradawl, into his pocket, and began to follow her and within minutes had caught up to her, and began to talk to her as they walked. He asked her if she had far to go, and she replied she had been at her grandmother's and was walking home, and that it was quite a walk. * Peter hit Josephine from behind with his hammer and had knocked her to the ground where she made a load moaning noise, and hit her again as she lay on the ground. * Sutcliffe then noticed someone walking along the pavement where they had been walking a couple of minutes earlier. He then dragged her approximately 30 feet into the darkness away from the road. As he was crouched over the body, he was then horrified to hear voices close behind him. * He turned and saw two figures hurrying across the field, and watched as they passed close by him. A man walking by the park at the time of the murder said later that he had heard an unusual noise. * She was still moaning loudly when Sutcliffe pulled her clothing back, turned her over, and then proceeded to stab her twenty-one times with the screwdriver in the chest and stomach, and six times in the right leg, and also thrust the screwdriver into her vagina. Her skull had been fractured from ear to ear. * At 6:30 am, Jean Markham was at the bus stop on Savile Park Road when she stared at the bundle in the park, "I thought it was a bundle of rags until I saw a shoe nearby." She went across the road and was about to pick up the shoe when she realised that the bundle of rags was actually the body of a young woman. She went up to the body and saw that she was dead, and ran back to her home to telephone the police. * Josephines 13-year-old brother, David, after picking up the newspaper for his newspaper round, was returning across the playing fields when he saw all the police activity and it was when he saw the shoe that he recognised it as one of his sister's. He ran home to tell his step-father and mother. After checking her room and finding it empty, distraught with fear and grief, they called the police. * They found boot prints next to josaphines body * After the trial in 1981, the Sunday Times ("Did The Ripper Have An Accomplice'"- May 24 1981) reported that they had "learned that Sutcliffe's tenth victim, Josephine Whitaker, was found with a bite-mark on her left breast. It had been made, shortly before her death, by someone with a gap between the two upper front teeth. Sutcliffe has just such a gap. In the course of his interrogation by police, Sutcliffe admitted killing Whitaker, but he denied categorically that he had bitten her. Ripper Squad detectives on the other hand are convinced that Sutcliffe did."   Barbara leach * Barbara leach was the yorkshire rippers 17th victim * she was 20 years old and went to university and studied social psychology * she was murdered in the early hours of Sunday September 2 1979 * she was murdered west of Bradford city centre * she was at the Mannville Arms on Great Horton Street with her friends * the Manville arms closed at 11pm but barbara and her friends chose to help out the landlord ( Roy Evans ) . * Barbara and her friends left the Manville Arms at around 12:45 am there was light rain when they left * Barbara wanted to go for a walk in the night but none of her friends wanted to join her on her walk * Peter saw her leave her group of friends and walk towards Ash Grove * He waited for her to walk past his car and then he decided to attack her with a hammer * with one hit from the hammer she was dead * he dragged her body into house number 13's backyard and pulled her shirt and bra up to reveal her breasts. he pulled down her jeans * he stabbed her with the same screw driver he stabbed Josephine Whitakker with * he stabbed her 8 times in the abdomen * He left her body behing a wall placing a carpet over her with some stones on top * Barbara's roomates were concerned when Barabara didnt come home after her night out so they called the police * the police found her body at 3:55PM * her wounds clearly indicated that the Yorkshire ripper had attacked again   * the public began to get angry from the death of 2 "decent" women,  who did not work in the red lights * the police decided to step up and spend 1 million pounds on publicity on newspapers, billboards and posters reminding everyone of the Yorkshire Ripper with the "Geordie" Accent. * It stated that any suspects could be eliminated if; The man was not born between 1924 and 1959, only those between 20 and 55 years of age need be considered. The man was obviously a coloured person. His shoe size was nine or over. His blood group was other than B, and most crucially .His accent was dissimilar to a North Eastern (Geordie) accent. * The report then described the three most common elements in all of the known cases as being; The use of two weapons, a sharp instrument and an alleged one-and-a-quarter-pound ball-peen hammer. The absence of sexual interference, and The clothing moved to expose breasts and pubic region. * After 9 interviews with the police, they didnt not strongly suspect peter as the yorkshire ripper as he had sonia to back him up   Margurite Walls * In april 1979, he admitted to his work friends that hes cheating on sonia with a young woman, theresa douglas * He told theresa that he was not married and is divorced * He would write her romantic letters and he made a really good impression * theresas brother said he had an evil look in his eyes so peter admitted he was the yorkshire ripper. * After this, he would go out drinking alot and one time he was driving when a police stopped him and he was breathalyzed and sent to prison * after a court case he was sent back home * While peter had to wait for his court case in january 1981, he killed 2 more women and attacked 4 * Margurite was 47 years old and was a civil servant who worked at the Department of Education and Science at Farsley. * On 20th august 1980, she was working late because she was going on holiday the next day * She left her work at 10:30PM and was on her way home, she lived near her work but she took the long safer way home * as she walked past the entrance to a local magistrates house, Peter Sutcliffe jumped out from behind the fence where he had waited for her and hit her on the head with his hammer. * Marguerite did not fall to the ground as Peter expected her to, instead she began to scream, and a second hit to the head still did not stop her screaming as she held her now bleeding head. To stop her screaming, he grabbed her by the neck and strangled her. As he did so, he dragged her into the driveway and through the overgrown bushes of the property called Claremont. * By the time he reached the garage, deep in the garden, Marguerite was dead. He ripped at her clothes, tearing them from her and scattering them around the garden, his anger and frustration at his failure to bring his knife rose with him and could not be quelled as he rained blows on her body with his hammer. Before leaving her, he covered her body with leaves that had been left in a pile nearby. * Marguerite was found the next morning 400 yard away from her home   Upadhya Bandara * she was 34 years old * she survived the attack * attacked on September 24 1980 Wednesday night 10:30 pm * she was visiting Leeds from her native Singapore as part of a World Health Organisation scholarship. * she was walking home after visiting her friends in Headingley * Peter was staring at her as she was passing the kentucky fried chicken shop * she was attacked when she turned into Chapel lane, an alley way that lead to cardigan road * peter hit her with his hammer on her head knocking her unconscious * he held her tight with a ligature to stop her from escaping * He dragged her body but her shoes were making too much noise * Peter picked up her shoes and her handbag and threw them a over a wall. she lay bleeding on the floor * before he could finish his attack, he heard footsteps and ran away * it was a woman named Mrs Valerie Nicholas who heard noises and went to the alley way to investigate * the police didnt believe Upadhya Bandara that she was attacked by the yorkshire ripper even though her description matched * she returned to singapore to recover   Theresa Sykes * She was aged 16 * she survived the attack * she was attacked on November 5 1980 Wednesday night at 8:00 pm * she lived with her boyfriend and had a 3 month old son * she was walking accross some grassland when peter hit her on her head with a hammer 3 times one hit was so hard it went through her skull * he followed her from the Minstrel Pub where she had gone to visit her father who was the ownder of the pub * her boyfriend Jimmy saw the attack from his living room and went running to the scene * as soon as peter saw him he fled into the darkness * theresa survived but she had been effected so badly by the attack * she left her boyfriend jimmy and was afraid of every man including her father * she had plans to marry jimmy * the police at first didnt believe the attack was from the yorkshire ripper, but they later changed their minds   Jacqueline Hill * she was aged 20 * she was murdered * she was a student in her third year of her English degree course * November 17 1980 Monday night on 9:25 pm * she was returning to her students hall residence * Peter called Sonia and said he was doing a delivery in Gloucester and wouldnt be home that night * he ate at the kentucky fried chicken shop and watched jacqueline hill at 9:23 pm she was by the bus stop * she was on her way home from a seminar on the probation service * as she passed the kentucky fried chicken shop peter got up to follow her He was behind her as she entered the dimly lit Alma Road toward the Lupton Flats where she had recently moved * her mum had been concerned about the yorkshire ripper attacks so she decided to move to an all girls flat * jacqueline was only 100 yards away from her flat where he attacked her on the back of her head * he dragged her body behind some trees out of view and stabbed her repeatedly * he stabbed her in the eye as she was watching him as he slashed her naked body * he left her and headed for home * he forgot about her handbag and an iranian student Amir Hussain found her handbag that she had dropped and took it up to his flat to show his roomates * one of his roomates was an ex police officer from hong kong and noticed fresh blood spots on the handbag * her roomates phoned the police as she hadnt arrived * Amir Hussain insisted to the police to search the surrounding area * the police found nothing and left * A worker at the Arndale shops discovered Jacqueline the next morning at 10:10 am. She was lying less than thirty yards from where police had searched the previous night. Initially, police denied that the Yorkshire Ripper had struck again until Professor David Gee announced his findings. The Ripper had struck again for what the police wrongly believed to be the first time in fourteen months. * The attack was widely publicised with police requesting the assistance of anyone who had been in the area that night. They were especially interested in talking to the owner of a dark, square-shaped car, which had been seen reversing hurriedly down one-way Alma Road. The driver, understandably, did not come forward. * The people of england began to get scared as he wasnt just killing prostitues but "innocent" women too * people started protesting for their right to walk their streets safely * The police were inundated with information from the public. Police in Leeds received 8000 letters, 7000 of which were anonymous. Most named suspects. One of those unsigned letters was from Trevor Birdsall. In it he named Peter Sutcliffe, a lorry-driver from Bradford. When police did still not question Peter two weeks later, Trevor entered the Bradford police headquarters, where he repeated his allegations to the constable on the reception desk. The report was fed into the system and Peter Sutcliffe continued to walk free. * Trevor had been suspicious of Peter for some time before he went to the police, even as far back as Olive Smelt's attack. But Peter was his friend whom he didn't think was capable of killing. The police insistence that the Yorkshire Ripper was from Sunderland and spoke with a Geordie accent had allayed Trevor's suspicions for a long time. When Trevor heard nothing more from police, he assumed that they had followed up with Peter and he had been wrong. * the police didnt get Trevors report, it was right under a hige pile of information * George Oldfield was no longer in charge of the investigation; Jim Hobson had replaced him. * Peter was in sheffield and drove up to the red lights. 2 women one named denise and one named olivia were walking the streets in hope to find a job * peter pulled up to Denise and offered her 10 pounds. There was something about that man that frightened Denise so she refused * an hour later his rover came again and he drove to her friend Olivia. Olivia accepted the offer of 10 pounds and they both drove to Melbourne avenue and parked the car * Olivia often took her customers there as it was quiet and perfect for "bussiness" * Peter Sutcliffe had been unable to become aroused, despite Olivia's many attempts, so they had sat and talked for a while, mostly about Peter. In his pocket were his ball-pein hammer, a piece of rope and a knife. He was just waiting for an opportunity to get the woman outside. While he waited, Sgt. Robert Ring and Constable Robert Hydes were driving along Melbourne Road as part of their general patrol. When they saw the dark Rover parked in the driveway, they had a pretty good idea why. * they interuppted peter and olivia and questioned who they were. Peter said his name was Peter williams and Olivia said she was his girlfriend * One police officer recognised olivia's face and told her to go sit in the police car * Peter said he needed to go to the toilet so he walked up behing some tree behind a tank and placed the Knife and rope in his pocket * the police were suspicious and called for information of his registry number, within seconds the operator had got information * the police went and checked his number plates they learned the licence number was FHY 400K. * Peter confirmed this and told them his real name was Peter William Sutcliffe, he told them he lied because he didnt want his wife finding out he was with a prostitute.
