* * * After the interviews with Ruben and the staff these ideas Ticket sales via website, or m-commerce, Wifi, Menu changes were put forward as a means of improving Club It’s competitive advantage in the night club field and to improve the performance of Club It. This paper will focus and give some detailed observations on those ideas. * The First idea is to change the menu to include some different items for the different music venues. Each month Club It showcases a different type of music. For example January has local bands, November has Jazz, June is San Francisco bands, October is Latin, and March is NYC bands (Wiley Higher Education, 2007-2008). Each of this areas or types of music has certain foods associated with them. Jazz is more southern cooking and Latin food speaks for itself. Ruben can take a survey about what kinds of food are associated with the different types of music and get the customers involved in the process (Wiley Higher Education. (2007-2008). Adding extra foods and drinks to the menu for the different types of music showcased each month and getting customer input will make the Club It have more of a family admosphere. * The Sysco Corporation (2008-2009) website has as over 91 main dishes and 77 appetizers so that Club It can get a variety items. Sysco also has a link on the web page so that the order can be sent in electronically, which will save time and money. The proper use of supply chain management techniques will help the keep the supplies coming in the back door so the customers can be served with a smile in the front of the club. * The next idea is the use of WiFi. Several other restaurants and coffee shops have free WiFi set up for their patrons and because most of the patrons of the Club It are mostly net generation and millennials it only makes sense to offer WiFi. The latest WiFi standard, IEEE 802.11n, provides faster download speed and helps several users to access heavy data without a bottle neck. Anonymous. (n.d). Wifi systems come in a variety of cost. Security can be a problem because tips on hacking into WIFi can be found on the net (Leland, T. (n.d). The third idea is to set up a web site so that the customers can purchase concert tickets and other merchandise online instead of in person or on the phone. This involves the building a website, which is not an easy or quick process. Building a website is a very labor and time intensive undertaking. Here are a few guidelines that should be kept in mind when building or designing a good website (Mary, n.d). 1. The website needs to support what users want, not necessarily what the company wants to promote. 2. If the user can’t use it or can’t figure out how to access what they want they won’t come back. 3. Make information easy to find. If the site is not easy to navigate the customer will simply leave and go to another site. 4. Think about all the users who may have a physical handicap. Make the site accessible to all as much as possible. 5. Be responsive and make sure the site has a way to reach someone in charge if needed. 6. Measure success by watching the sites of other companies of the same type. This is a good indicator of how you are doing. 7. Build trust let the customer know how much you value his security and privacy. Set good security measures in place. 8. Watch out for new tools that could help improve your website. Remember a website is an investment. * * Another part of the website equation is to figure out if the website needs to be accessible by mobile devices, such as the Iphone or PDA’s or will it mainly accessed by laptops and desktop computers. The technology platforms that will support mobile access have limitations. The following are two ways to deal with those limitations. First a separate website can be built on a mobile domain, which would be duplicate of the home website but this is costly and if the traffic doesn’t support it then it would be non-productive. Another way would be to design your website to have a broad range of screen sizes so that it can be pulled up on a mobile device (Mair, 2009). * The It specialist decided that purchasing ERP software was not feasible for Club It because of to the high cost but did a comparison of companies that host ERP services or Lease ERP. “Leasing hosted ERP is cheaper, faster and easier than building an ERP system, so SMBs can circumvent software upgrades, hiring and training extra staff, and ongoing maintenance and tech support associated with in-house solution” (John, n.d.). It was decided to go with Blue Tie because of many application offerings, the good encryption and the lower cost.(Rob, n.d) Using this company the Club It can get the business applications do with one company instead of using multiple software vendors.. * Club It is a new and innovative nightclub. Once the new website is up and running it will allow both new and old customers to see what Club It has to offer. * References Anonymous. (n.d).
