College Essay A general template of the perfect life is always be strived for by many people today. Some say it would nice if there was an instruction manual to tell us how to become successful, yet many forget this is our life, our goals, and our experiences to cherish. Without a wink of regret, I find myself looking back at the past few years knowing I chose this path, for at the time is was right for me. The challenges I attempted, the hurdles I overcame, and the experiences I have encountered have shown me a new prospective of whom I can one day be. Whether it may have been joining a new squad, learning to adapt to each child’s need, or attempting to have my voice heard by the Board of Education; I have learned more in my experience than a manual can ever teach. Walking onto a cheerleading squad that upheld high expectations, I knew that this challenge would make me or break me. This positive learning experience taught me strong bonds of trust and friendship, organization and time management, along with courage and strength to believe in myself.

This cheerleading squad also brought along the advantages to compete at a high level, travel within the United States, and work with children. I quickly became very fond of children and found myself reaching out for work experience in the field of education. Being employed though the Family Math Program, a Valley YMCA Counselor, and as High School Cheerleading Coach, I have determined there is more meaning to the word “job.” These children, whom thrive for learning and a sense of accomplishment, have taught me each individual has their own way to success. When working with sever A.D.D. students or mildly down syndrome adults, I have had to readjusted may techniques of teaching to better equip whom I am working with. To see a child progress, the smile on their face after achieving a goal, and to be viewed as a role-model has brought the word “job” to a successfully rewarding meaning. Yet, many challenges I face are conflicted with evaluating my own self, this past year I have found myself questioning the decision of the Board of Education. Due to a large budget cut made to our highs school, our Yearbook Advisor, Drama Coach, and Class Advisers were a few that this year upheld a non-paying position.

Standing as Yearbook Editor, a member of the Drama Club, and a member of the Prom Committee, these activities no longer what they stood as the pervious year. We no longer were able to run fundraisers, organize places for events, nor run anything without a signature from a teacher which no long can stand. A group of students and I wrote a letter to the Board of Education expressing our opinions along with over 150 signature of students along with Class Presidents attendning Board Meeting for to months, hoping our voice would be taken into consideration. With great deal thought of the opinion we held, the President along with his Treasure, held a meeting with four other students and I to express that our view were clearly heard, taken into great considerations, and have found the money to someway pay these positions again. They also express how proud they were to hold a position of having students they represent take a matter in which they strong believe about the right way of getting the attention it needed. This outcome proved to me, no matter what field the challenge is in there is a way in which we can work to accomplish the goals in which we strive for.
