The abstract is typically a short summary of the contents of the document.] | PG 1 Who moved my cheese' The story about Sniff, Scurry, Hem, Haw, and change in the world. In this book I have found that if I had to compair myself to one of the characters I would say I’m most in line with Haw. Only just in the last year have I become like Haw. For me the Army is my “Cheese Station C” from 2002 up to 2006 I was just like Sniff and Scurry. I kept my sneakers tied around my neck and was ready to move on if need be. After my first enlistment was up I decided I’ll stay in for the long haul, do my twenty years in Cheese Station C (CSC) and retire. It was a safe bet. I figured my employer makes the cheese; it’s never going to run out. So I took my sneakers off and set them aside and got comfortable. I was defiantly like Hem. Last year a good friend of mine whom I worked with in Cheese Station C went on a trip to do some other work outside of Cheese Station C. Unfourtunatly while we were away my friend was hurt very badly. He was told that he would no longer be able to work in Cheese Station C and would have to go elsewhere. He didn’t really have a plan of action for something like this and said he was scared of the change that lies ahead. It made me think, what if that happens to me' He and I do the same type of work in Cheese Station C. I could be put in the same situation. I thought to myself “What would I do' Where would I go'”. Then I decided I needed a backup plan just in case the cheese in Cheese Station C ran out for me just as it had for my friend. That’s when I decided to become like Haw. At first I was a little scared. I thought do I leave Cheese Station C now, or do I stay and try to prepare for the change if it happens. Then I realized that the change from Cheese Station C is going to happen anyway. I already planned for it. After 20 years in Cheese Station C I knew I was going to have to leave there and find a new Cheese Station. That’s when I picked up my sneakers, put them on and went out in the maze to try and find other Cheese Stations that I could go to if I had to. PG 2 At first I was amazed at how many different Cheese Stations there were. Some were empty and others just were not interesting. I didn’t like the kind of Cheese there. But as I moved further on I realized there are quite a few options in Cheese that interest me. The big issue I saw with all the Cheese Stations I liked is that you need a Cheese Making degree to join them. That’s why I’m so actively engaged in the Cheese making process (college). I’m still enjoying the Cheese here in Cheese Station C. Just now each day I venture out and check on all the other Cheese Station possibilities I found before. To make sure they are still there and going strong. This way when change has to occur, I’ll be ready to throw on my sneakers and move out to the other Cheese Stations that I found. If all goes well I will already have my Cheese making degree and will be welcome at the Cheese Stations I already found.
