What would you change about your world if you could'
“Nothing is permanent in this world, other than the Change”. This is a famous proverb. In this mechanical world, all of us are moving towards the pursuit of money, having not even a single second to spare to think of the world. Therefore, I would like to bring to spotlight 3 most prickling things in my mind, which I think, given a power I will surely change, to make the world a better place to live in….
The very first thing that came into my mind to change is that people no longer have to suffer, whether it is from disease, poverty, illness, war, etc. True enough, this is a pretty general answer. But it is common because people recognise that this is a problem in our world. It is something that everybody can do. You do not have to have a master’s degree in psychology or be a doctor to help someone feel better. This deed only requires that you care about who you are helping. Your heart can do wonders, especially when it comes to easing people’s pain and reducing even a little bit of pain from their daily lives, whether it is physical or mental.
There are many examples of what I am trying to convey here. Let’s say that you have a friend who is very insecure and thinks that nobody likes him or her. There are a million ways to make this person feel better. Even a simple "Hey" and a smile can make this person’s day. Sadly, we do not do this. This may not seem like a lot, yet slowly but surely, the person will start to build their confidence and step out of their comfort zone to make more new friends.
On a more serious side, let’s say that somebody you know has a disease and has to stay home. There are many things you can do to help make that person feel better and ease the pain, even if just by a little bit. You can read to them, play board games, watch television together, solve crossword puzzles, or even just talk. Any of the activities you are doing can make their mind drift from the fact that they have any disease. Even if it is just for an hour, it makes a big difference to the person. The hour you spend with them might last them the whole week. These might not seem like major issues, such as curing cancer or getting rid of world hunger, but these little steps are what that will eventually lead to those big steps.
The next thing that needed to be changed is prejudice or racism. We are all people set upon this earth to live our lives as best we can. If we removed our skin, we would all look the same. Hence, I do not understand why we all could not live to help one another in the daily struggles of living. Why do we have to judge people simply by the color of their skin or by what religion they practice' We are all people. We all have the same problems. Can you imagine how wonderful life would be, if we could just support one another through this challenging journey' If everyone could learn to love themselves and love others as well, this world would be a much better place.
Therefore, without a second thought, I would stomp out racism. It does not matter what color, race, or creed you are because everyone should be treated equally not only at work, earning the same pay, but to be looked at as a person who does not have any colour, ethnicity or colourful background.
These changes would definitely make things different for myself and others, but in a positive way. In terms of the social circle, people would be much nicer and caring towards each other as they learn to understand one another. They learn to stand in other people’s shoes and think in their perspectives. Physically, the environment would be non- polluted, thus constructing a conducive and beautiful world to live in. Sure, the changes would make things different, but that is definitely not a bad thing. Just because we’re not used to something, does not means it is not beneficial to us. Every small little steps count, as they will eventually lead to one big leap ahead.
