What is the relationship between Central and the image of Hong Kong' In Central ,there a several type of architecture style in a small town. Some of them are so grandly, like the legislative council building , some of them are so modern, like the building of the bank of china, and some of them are so dilapidated. these characteristic represent the image of Hong Kong . In this field trip, we went several viewpoint in central, here choose some location i want to discuss that relate to the image of HK. Central-Mid-Levels Escalator It is the longest outdoor escalator system in the world . It links Central and and Western District on Hong Kong Island. It represent the transport facility in Hong Kong is so convenient that you can go everywhere in HK. Also, when traveling on the escalator, we could see the view of central- a busy city. Central Market The precursor of the market was Canton Bazaar. It was the first wet market in Hong Kong. There are two entrances of the market. The Des Vouex Road Central entrance is one the ground floor while the Queen's Road Central entrance bridges the first floor. This old market is now used as a pinacotheca which also provides free Wi-fi service. It is quite funny that in the oldest market provides these electrically service. The Legislative Council Building It is a late Victorian architecture. Many architecture in Central used this style due to it was built in the past that affect by the western style. However, some of the building in Central are in Chinese style (Tong Building). this represent Hong Kong is are multicultural and multinational city. In one street of Central , you can see so many foreigner in bars , walking and driving. Central is a town that full of Chinese and western culture. Bank of China Tower It was completed in 1989 by I.M. Pei, which is the first building using composite megastructure space frame in HK. the idea of this building was mixed with some Chinese culture ( the outlook as bamboo in Chinese means being greater and greater ). This mixing culture concept is quite new in that time but it can also reflect Hk is a mixed Chinese and western city. It was the tallest building when it was completed. However, many buildings are higher than Bank of China Tower now. HK is a city that full of competition everyone want to be the no.1 like the modern buildings now being higher and higher. Now, the International Financial Center (IFC) Phase II is higher then the Bank of China Tower. Standard Chartered Bank Building and HSBC Main Building There are two international bank's buildings in Central. Hong Kong is an international financial center and central is 'center of the center'. Everybody knows HK 's international stage is very high . Victoria Prison It is a declared monument which built in 1841. Now it is still in use. In Central has declared monument like in a modern city has village. It shows here is various city. Hong Kong is highly developed , It looks like a very rich,and busy city. however, it doesn't. Yet, many HK people are rich , they have many private flats, cars but there are some people are so poor even they can't take enough food. Looking at HK Island in Kowloon Public Pier , there are many and many modern architectures entering your eyes but beside that there are many old dangerous building behind that. That is the image of Hong Kong.
