Discuss Word target 2,000* Word count 1,999 *Word count excludes Title page and Bibliography Introduction In this essay I will be looking at the methods and techniques that are used to personalise screeds to suit working with different clients. In doing this I will explore the reasoning behind personalisation and in my conclusion I will consider whether this type of induction will always be more effective. Why Personalise a Screed' The more personalised hypnotherapy is, the more effective it will be, as whilst all humans appear quite similar, we are different in many ways. We have different likes and dislike; come from different cultural backgrounds; and will have been brought up in environments that have provided us with different outlooks, values and perspectives. Discussion with clients is important, however the impact that the words we use only make up 7% of our communication. The tone and volume come in second at 38% and body language at 55%.1 When we are using our screed for Progressive Muscle Relaxation (PMR) the client has invariably got their eyes closed and therefore 55% of our communication ceases to be effective. Also, to make the PMR effective, an exuberant tone or volume may not always be wanted. Thus, we have to deliver our messages and suggestions in words alone. If the best possible results are to be obtained there is a need to work closely with individuals in order to identify their likes and dislikes as well as their personality. In this way we can gain their trust and assist them in reaching a suitable state of hypnosis. Taking the time to get to know the client, through the use of rapport during the initial consultation, is a key element to determining which type of screed is best to use. Completion of an assessment form will also help, preferably after the first meeting.
