2 I hate going shopping with the children. The more technology that comes out the more expensive it is. Better yet, the more technology that comes out the more I have to spend. My DVD player was broken so I wanted the one on sale for $29.99. As soon as I went to put the DVD player in the cart, the look I got from my kids was as if I put a dog bone in the cart. What’s wrong with you mom' I had no idea what they were talking about. “The DVD is played out you need to get the blu-ray like the one we have down stairs. I never watched a movie on their blu-ray system. To me a movie is a movie whether it’s on blu-ray, DVD, or a VCR. My children told me watching a movie on blu-ray was the best experience to watch a movie. What is blu ray' Blu ray is the new DVD. The technology of the blu ray is a little more complex than your regular DVD or VCR player. Also known as the blu ray disc, this new multimedia concept gives the use of advanced video and audio coders will offer consumers an unprecedented HD experience. Blu-ray is the next generation of optical disc format jointly joined together by the blu-ray disc association. The DVD uses a ray laser to read and write data. The blu-ray uses a blue violet laser instead. The difference in using a blue ray laser rather than a red violet ray is that the blue laser is a shorter wave length than the red laser. The shorter wave length makes the blu-ray able to focus on the laser spot with greater precision. The blue ray in the blu ray system is able to move 5 times faster than the DVD player. Blu- ray was developed by the Blu-ray Disc association, a group of representative makers of consumer electronics, computer hardware and motion pictures. My son has the blu-ray and I have the “old” as he say DVD player. We took the blu-ray, DVD challenge. The same movie was played on both systems the same time. The difference I 3 saw was the quality of the picture. Blu-ray seemed to give a sharper intense focus on what we were watching. Doing more research the blu-ray holds more storage space, 25 to 50 GB. This is a 5 to 10 times increase than the DVD. As with the DVD, the blu-ray disc format is based on the same, disc physical form factor, allowing for compatibility with the CD and DVD player. The blu-ray disc format was designed to offer the best form and features for a wide variety of applications. As with any new system my concern is will it last, will it break easy, as with any new system that just came on the market. Doing research on the blu-ray the makers of the system, “Blu-ray disc association” assures the system should last 10 to 15 years. The cost for a new system is around $120.00. It seems when a new technology comes out the price is high. As the blu-ray shall be out a while, it will to get cheaper. When the price drops I’ll buy me own. In the mean time I’ll use my children’s blu-ray system. They have one also included in their PS3 system. Finally the shopping for my DVD player came to an end. My children bought some games and I ended up getting a $25.00 DVD player. In a few years when this escaped for a new system to watch movies go on, I’ll be buying a blu-ray while the kids buy whatever new comes out. The blu-ray will probably be $25.00 then, that’s when I’ll buy it. Even with the blu-ray and the DVD, even the VCR, nothing beats going out to the movies with family. I hope all this new technology don’t make people lazy and better couch potato’s. Technology should make us advanced in the future not home bodies.
