May 24, 2010 MEMO TO: Sales Staff FROM: Chuck Luu RE: New Strategic Direction and Implications; Confidential Hello Team members, many of you may have already known that InterClean are acquiring EnviroTech pending on all the final detail from of our legal department. This is a very exciting time for both companies. As David pointed out in his memo earlier; that the changed of environmental regulation has enabled us to expand our company. We will be the first in the market to innovate a complete and full-service solution package to our customers and our potential of growth is huge. Research data found that the demographic among the two companies is a very good mach and this acquisition enables us to enhance our business to lead and to dominate the market in our industry. In order to help implement this acquisition smoothly, we need to focus on three major things; manager’s behavior, action and practice that could affect the productivity, employment law and the diverse work of our company. First I would like to point out that as a manager, our behavior can both positively and negatively affect the productivity of our workers. I would like to share with you on some of the data and information that can help provide a positive affect of the productivity of our workers. According to the Gallup Organization study there are 12 statements that they believe would help improve business such as profits, productivity, employee retention, and customer loyalty. (University of Phoenix, 2010). Please refer to Appendix A for the detail of 12 statements. I suggested that we use some of these techniques to boost once again the morality of the team. On the other hand we need to avoid to the idea of eliminating position as a merger takes place. As we saw David’s memo, we will only be expecting some internal structure changes. We will also be going thru a lot of training to enable us to better align with the new company direction. I will be my best to inform you the latest. As managers, I believe all of you are aware some of the employment law. I would like to address a couple key points to remind everyone that we need to understand them and have discipline regarding these laws. Please be aware that as we merge together, there will be different face joining our group and we need to be acting as professional as possible. There is absolutely no tolerance for any discrimination against race, gender, age, religions, languages, country of origin in our company. The company is holding a very high standard of these violations. The consequence of any of this violation would be up to termination. These are some of the pretty straight forward company policy as well as the law. There will be some dilemma in some decision making. If there is any concern regarding the legal decision, please ask consult with our legal department. Refer to the appendix B regarding the fair employment and the basis for discrimination suits and subsequent judicial rulings. We are a diverse company at InterClean and Envirotech, It is necessary to maintain this business practice. Many global business have many success story regarding diversifying their business model. According to the data shown on table 4-2 the manufacturing job is in a reducing trend and the service job is on the rise. Our strategy is right on the track with the new world of business. Our business is moving toward service solution rather then just product, this is another reason to diverse our workforce. Teamwork is another key to success in a diversity work environment. According to the chapter 4 “New Business Strategies That Require More Teamwork” In a world class quality reliability and customer services. Things need to done in a team work formation such that the global organization goal can be accomplished in a timely manner. In conclusion, as the result of the two companies merge, new direction need to follow in order to drive to better success of the company. Rather then focusing on how effective the product is, a more complete solution is the next huge opportunity for the entire organization. With David’s new strategic plan we aim to implement flawlessness, it is necessary to focus on manager’s behavior that can help drive this plan in a positive manner. It is also important for managers to be aware of the employment law and at the same time provide a best practice for working within a diverse work environment.
