LeBon is a newly opened farming business located in the southern side in Togo. The main objective of the business is to cultivate different types of food in need by the Togolese people. In this moment of industrial evolution, the majority of African farmers are still using the traditional due to lake of finance resources to acquire the farming materials needed to help them enlarge their farming capacity. A group of African descendants living in United States of America after months of discussion saw this as an opportunity and decided to start a small farming business, thus the creation of LeBon. In the following passage, we will discussion the company’s mission statement and vision statement. We will define the guiding principles of LeBon in regard to culture, social responsibility and ethics. We will also present a brief analysis of how the vision, the mission and the values guide the organization’s strategic direction. The passage will finally evaluate how the organization addresses customers’ needs and critique how it achieves competitive advantage. Just as everything else, the management team of LeBon began forming the development of their organization by setting a mission which would eventually lead to the company’s vision. A firm’s mission statement embodies the business philosophy of the firm’s strategic decision makers, implies the image the firm seek to project, reflects the firm’s self-concept, and indicates the firm’s principal product or services areas and the primary customer needs the firm will attempt to satisfy (Pearce & Robinson, 2009). The founders of LeBon want to utilize their educational knowledge and their business expertise to help accrue the level of food produce across the country. Based on these thoughts the following mission statement was drafted. We, LeBon, are dedicated to provide high quality of variety of food to people everywhere in the country. Our main goal is to act as trusted supplier of the different kinds of food cultivated in our region to our customers. The organization is also committed to provide friendly and professional working environment for its workers. More importantly, the company is here to assist in any way in preserving the livable environment of the community. The next step in the development of LeBon is to draft the organization’s vision. Where do the top managers of the firm want to take it to' Do they just want to stay in the southern region of Togo or expand the business across the country and eventually extend it to the global market' Whereas the mission statement expresses and answers to the question “What business are we in'”Company’s vision statement is sometimes developed to express the aspirations of the executives’ leadership (Pearce & Robinson, 2009). The vision statement is what motivate workers, drive the energy and most importantly keep the organization focused. The vision of LeBon is to be one of the top farming industry that is held with high regard across the continent of Africa. As things stand right now, the continent is viewed as potential market to be explored. The founders of LeBon have understood the importance of company culture in the sense that such must be in compliance with whatever location or environment they chose to conduct they business. Social responsibility, social justice, collaboration and partnership with customers and their well being, knowledge of self and understanding of one’s impact on the organization and a continued improvement are the different guiding principles around which LeBon operates. Not only has the company believed on producing healthy foods, it is also important that we help maintain productive, effective and sustainable communities. It is in the best interest of the organization to contribute to the benefit and the well-being of its communities. Business ethics is the application of ethical principles and standards to business (Thompson, Gamble & Strickland, 2006). There are several core concepts of ethics and according to the school of ethical relativism, different societal cultures and customs have divergent value standards of right or wrong- thus what is ethical or unethical must be judged in the light of local customs and social mores and can vary from one culture or nation to another (Thompson, Gamble & Strickland, 2006). These consist of LeBon’s management idea of ethics. As the firm expands, we must consider the local principles and incorporate them in our business ethics guide. Now that goals and plans have be made and drafted, it is essential to develop a course of action that would assist the firm fulfill the intended, mission, goals and visions. These actions constitute the strategic direction. As company develops plans, mission, goals and visions, it must have a road map or directions in which it wants to move in and grow. These directions are one of the most important elements in the success of the organization. As we stated at the beginning, LeBon’s vision is to be viewed as a trusted food supplier for the entire continent of Africa. The strategic direction would for instance indicate what needs to be done, where to start, what product to cultivate. This must be in the sense that different region grow different products –thus producing the inappropriate produce may have huge impact on the business. As the organization progresses, plans and strategic directions must be reviewed periodically and any necessary correction must be made in order to keep the focus on the vision. You may have vision, but you may get lost in the process if you do not have clear directions on how to reach that vision. LeBon would have to identify a strategy on how to enter the market. It is clear that there would competition from existing companies or new organizations in the same business. As competition grows, we must put in plan to differentiate our products from the rest of the market. A well detailed marketing research must be done in the locations where we intend to conduct business and determine the appropriate products to grow. Knowing buyers’ tastes is the most powerful tool LeBon is determined to use in order to meet its clients’ needs. We must also consider elements such as the quality of products, give customers different varieties of products, and most importantly chose our price very carefully. Such are just some of the factors that would help the company gain a competitive advantage over its competitors. In conclusion, LeBon is a farming company determines to utilize one of the most nature resources known to human to provide and maintain foods capability across the whole continent of Africa. The organization values which hold honesty and integrity are based on the common notion of right or wrong. The organization also believes that its ethics standards and principles must in conformity with the location it chooses to operate. Finally, mission and vision would be very difficult to meet and achieve if there is no strategic direction guiding employees through the process.
