How I Will Use Team charter to Improve Performance
Introduction
The team charter serves many important purposes. The team charter is a brief document used to define the mission and objectives of a team. It is a clarifying and gaining consensus on roles and responsibilities of a product team.1 Paramount among those are that it serves as guidance and road map leading to team members improved productivity and the likely hood of a successful team outcome. To accomplish these goals, the team charter as a document, sets team’s goals and direction, provides for agreement among team members and clarity. It further ensures structured palling, role identifications, outlines boundaries and scope, sets resources, etc., in a pattern that team members quickly grasp and apply to functions.
How Team Charter Improves Group Performance
A team without a charter will look like loose cannon. It will not have the mechanism for the group members to bound together and work as a team. They may be able to identify one bound, probably, such as the job to be performed. They may lack structure and collaboration how to achieve the best outcome.
Team charter helps eliminate lots of phobia among team members about team outcome. If a group performs without a team charter, the group may suffer few set backs such as, untimely result, unsuccessful outcomes, etc. This is mostly true about teams without team charter. Other contributing factors that may lead to failures are the lack of leadership, and guidance to get the best out of its efforts. Even though teams without team charter sometimes succeed, but their level is success do not match those with a team charter. Teams with charters will likely take premier places in ranks of successful teams.
A learning team charter helps team members to leave no stone unturned in implementing projects. To put it team simply, Teams with charters are making sure that it has its T’s crossed and it’s I’s doted. The team charter is like a check and balance system that provides for self evaluation to ensure better out comes at future and or succeeding projects.
How Your Contribution to Team Charter Building Enhances Your Individual Performance
In this background, I can use team charter to improve my personal performance as an individual. “When you invest your time and efforts to a team charter, you are placing the team on a road map for success. You will also be providing a high value structure to help individual team members be less frustrated and more productive”.2
A team charter is an important mechanism for clarifying and gaining consensus on the role and responsibilities of a product team. It makes team members share common identity, common goals and objectives, common leaderships, successes and failures, cooperate and collaborates on issues.
By being involved in deliberations to draw up a team charter is quite challenging and educational. It is a unique experience. The exercise itself enhances the individual’s performance in so many ways. It provides you the opportunity to compare you personality insight, attitude, motivation, decision making skills, communication skills, power and conflict resolution skills, and career goals with others. It does not only make you understand and identify who you are when it comes to these dimensions, but make you will know where others stand too on these dimension too. Thus contributes to your decision making process that will target group goals and objective. It does also help you avoid unnecessary conflicts and other factors that may impede group progress.
The disclosures and the deliberations processes on these dimensions are the learning process that really enhances individual performance. The process is like looking in the mirror and seen you self as you are. Once you are able to see yourself, you can now take time to correct what you see and you don like.
My Personal Experience with Learning Team Charter A
The drafting of Learning Team Charter A’s Charter was an experiencing guide for me to better understand my collogue and my self while working as a team. We were able to measure or unique experiences and fitted our personality and background in the team’s charter. Through the interpretation of personality style differences, we were able to come out with the strategies to put the team’s charter together. We were able to assigned roles to each other based on individual strengths and weaknesses. We have committed our selves to working with each other and observe the weak parts of our learning abilities and help strengthen those parts as best as we can. This commitment came only through the Learning Team Charter formation. In my opinion if the Learning Team Charter had not existed, we would not have made this commitment. The commitment is not only restricted to tutorials but working with each other to make sure the us as a team, both get successful outcome of Mgt 521, which is our first graduate course. This commitment has help to support and encourage me in my studies as I attempt my first graduate course, which is particularly beneficial to me.
Another exciting experience was the discussion of our assessment test results. This brought about some self awareness, thus helped me to understand where I may need to do some self regulations it also brought to light, where I stand on emotional intelligence. Over all it brought me confidence, as we compared personalities.
