Many third world countries are poor and in need of natural resources. The cause of urbanization in poor countries is not having enough social interaction with others in the communities and villages and not being able to work and provide for their families. There are too many children being born and living in poverty. Too many people occupying space that is not adequate enough to hold everyone that resides in a specific place. Africa is a country that urbanization due to the change in population, health, land use, the way there natural resources are used this includes soil, water, and their food source. The way the government enforces their policies and budget the funds that are available aren’t put forth to help the citizens but towards what the government feels is important. Who make a higher income are more likely to see changes in their cities and areas they live then those who live in poverty. The birth rate in the country is higher than what natural resources are able to provide. Many poor people who live in poverty in Africa don’t have energy let alone clean water to drink. Many women, men, and children are living in Africa with diseases. Many urban areas of sub Saharan Africa also have high prevalence rates for HIV/AIDS; where there are large urban populations unable to get the required treatments and lack of programmes to protect those who are most at risk, these increase urban morality rates significantly (van Donk 2006).
