UNIVERSITY EXAMINATION SYSTEM IN PAKISTAN An examinational system is an official test of knowledge. We have exams everywhere around the world. Education & examination could mean disciplining The mind, enriching the soul, building character, and everything and all things that are declared good according to the value judgments of a particular society. A healthy society can come about when people study for the purpose of gaining wisdom and knowledge and utilizing it for the country welfare. Examination system in general and especially in university has come to be the main theme of modern education. Students should take endless examinations and succeed in passing them, before they could graduate or master from university. As much importance has been attached to university examination system. It has many advantages and disadvantages. The examination system in our university needs reforms from preparing examination papers to their assessments. However there is always chances possibility or needs to improve the system with the passage of time. Each and every system has advantages and some disadvantages or drawbacks that affect the performance of system. With the university exams students are able to know their performance and knowledge. It encourages them to work and learn. It can create competition, which push the competitors to do the best candidates pass the exams some got good results it helps to get scholarship which will bring to have a good future and also becomes a valuable professional assets of the country. It has noticed that because of the existence of examination system, students go out for gaining high marks so that they often forget the main purpose of education. Many students are nothing but bookworms who merely know the skeleton of knowledge. Mostly the university exams are based on brief or descriptive notes instead of objectives. Students try so hard to get high marks, there is a great temptation for them to cheat in the exams, and they cheat not only their parents but themselves as well. It was observed a disadvantage cause by exams that some students make them stress. This is because there is too much pressure of their parents who have got bad result, it will affect their future for some it change their character but most used confidence in themselves. It is not making us understand things but learn them. Pakistanis University examination system is non reliable in many regards it is our exam system which is spoiling and real charge of students it is not providing us real and practical people but studious ones. Our exams are not a fair gauge of on how intelligent a pupil is, contrary to what many people think. University exams just require student to memorize the facts in their textbooks, thus will only benefits students who have photographic memory. However it is a disadvantage to students, who do not have good memories. The examiner on other hand is not flawless either. He rarely reads the whole answer before giving marks. The reasons may be, it is due to illegible writing or repetition or time constraint or too little remuneration is just another story. To summarizing the topic, I really think that the universities examinations system should be further improved; it may further decline if no corrective measures and collective efforts are initiated. The first and foremost requirement is the transparency in evaluation and assessment system requires marking of the students ability through out the year via seminars, mid term tests, presentations, assignments or class participation etc. The attendance must be made mandatory. There is also need for auditing of answer sheets checked by the evaluators. The question papers should be a blend of narrative, alternative response type, simple recall type, matching, filling the gap or objective questions. Only those topics should be evaluated in written exams which otherwise can not be evaluated. Discussion activities can also be conducted to evaluate the student’s participation level and their performance on descriptive topics. All students should be required to write down their own analysis, opinions, and conclusion in the form of thesis on every discussion topic. Hopefully, one day we can study for our ideals without great pressure. By the improved examination system, I can definitely see a bright future ahead out there waiting for us anxiously. The path from dreams to success exists. We may have the vision to find it, the courage to get onto it and the perseverance to follow it. However, to be healthy, each organ should be amply nourished. Similarly each branch of science, humanities, arts, business management, technology or commerce ought to be adequately take care.
