For instance all families need shelter, but some families houses may be inadequate, due to money problems, so families may require special professional support from the government to help them sort out their home, so that is it safe, warm and feels homely. Having an inadequate home comes under the united convention rights. It explains the out comes of having a insecure, unstable, and unsafe house, and that it can lead to issues such as stress, unhealthy lifestyles and even depressions. Families with children who have special needs will also need professional support, for instance the may need certain public services in their area, for instance if they have a child who is in a wheelchair they may need the support to get to and from schooling and any extra activities they may do. They parents may also need support from professionals so they know how they can look after the child properly. For instance the parent or careers may attend sure start meetings so that the can get the support they need. Disabilities within the family can also lead to a lot of stress; this is because there is a lot more care needed within families who have children with a disability. This is because it is understood that children with disabilities are going to be have less opportunities within their life. This can be very stressful for all the family.

Children’s play sometimes imitates adult behavior. For instance role-play of mummies and daddies. As a parents you should recognize the value of play with children, they should understand that play is a vital part of children’s lifestyle and is an everyday occurrence, it helps to develop all parts of children learning, for instance games with balls can help to develop children fine and gross motor skills. Parents should ensure that they are able to support their child’s play. For instance by buying correct toys or making toys, for instance making a treasure basket; as thought up and developed by Elinor Goldschmied. The treasure basket helps to develop children’s understand and knowledge of the world as all the toys inside are natural. Parents should also have time to take part in children’s games, for instance they should play dress up with them and let the child lead the game so that they can understand what the child is learning, also so the child can feel as if they are in control, this can help boost the child self-esteem. Playtime with parents will also help the parent to understand fully what they are interested in, where they are in their development and what they are already able to do. Although toys should never be a substitute for parental attention and love, they should still be enabling. Toys for the children should always be suitable and the parent should check this when buying them as for instance, violent computer games can lead to emotional and social problems. Parents should check that the toys are also age appropriate as games that are made for older children, can become frustrating for younger children if they are not able to complete them or play with them properly. Toys should also be safe and parents should ensure that when buying the toys they have the safety marks on them.

Communication with parents to children is very important. This is because interaction plays an important part in children’s learning and development. It doesn’t just benefit the children but it also benefits parents too. This is because the parent is able to understand what the child is enjoying, what their interests are and what upsets them. It also helps create a bond between them in which the child can begin to feel safe and secure in what they are telling the parent. The child will also grow in confidence as they will have their opinions listened to. Communication between parents and children should also be appropriate though; negative communication like putting the child down, swearing around or to them will have a negative impact on the child’s life.
Communication between practitioner and parents is also important, it will help the parent to understand what is going on with the child at the setting, what the child is good at and what the child could improve on. The parent then will be able to make decisions that have been thought about and even discussed with the child to, as all children have a right to have input when decisions are made on something that will impact their life.

Each centre is individually decided what they will provide on what supports the local community at best. However there are certain services that they must all provide: children and family health services, including health visitors, breast-feeding support.
Advice on parenting, local childcare options that are available, help to find training opportunities, and work opportunities using links such as the local job centres and other facilities.
Toy Libraries-
Toy libraries are services that are offered to local children, families and careers based on a regular toy loan services for a small fee and occasionally it is even free. Toys are carefully selected, for what age range and suitability it is for the child. Play sessions are available, there are in a friendly and safe environment where children can play and careers are able to interact with each other. Toy libraries are enabling for children because the help children develop, and general knowledge of the world, for instance sharing, playing with others.

Practitioner should always be alert to look for signs that adult and children are experiencing problems. For instance when working with children there are many different way in which you will be able to tell that children are having problems.
Practitioner can recognize parents and careers experiencing problems in many ways. For instance if they are continuously bringing in the child late this can suggest that there is something going on in the morning preventing the parent from getting the child in on time. The practitioner should then take the right steps to help the parent. When parents come in the parent may seem distressed with their body language or speech, this is another way in which a practitioner can tell that there may be a problem that the parent is not discussing with the practitioner yet.

Parents and practitioners are always going to having problems with children’s behaviour at one state or another. This is due to all children going through different stages of life and development. I will show two strategies in which parents and practitioners can help promote positive behavior in children.
Good Relationship-
Positive behaviour is built on good relationships and effective communication. Children have a desire to seek approval and love from the people they care about. If you can form a proper bond with children this will help them know and understand the boundaries that have been set, for instance when a child is behaving inappropriately they are more likely to respond to you if they have good relationship with you, if they respect and value you. Good relationship with children doesn’t come without the effort. You must ensure you listen to the child on their views and opinions, and involve them in decisions that have to do with them. This is a good structural base for a good relationship. Good relationship also involve positive praise instead of being told of for bad behaviour they should be praised for good behaviour. This will also help to encourage good behaviour because the child knows that when they are well behaved they will be rewarded. Also when parents and practitioners model appropriate behaviour children will pick up and copy.
Having Clear Expectation-
It is important that parents and practitioner set rules that are fair and equal for all children. This will help children know and understand certain boundaries. If the child know exactly what these rules and expectation they are more likely to stick to them as they are able to understand what is and isn’t expected of them. Settings can give duties and responsibilities for each child, this will help them to feel valued, and if they know that they will loose the privilege if the misbehave, they are more likely to behave appropriately.

Citizen Advice-
Citizen advice services help people to resolve their legal, money, educational and work problems they may be facing. The offer advice and provide information about suitable actions that can be taken to help resolve the problem. Citizen advice works with other expects such as the family action, gingerbread centres and the job centre. It is spilt into three main criteria’s, Money, Work and Education. The advantages are that professional support and advice can be obtained by parents and careers on issues that they need help resolving, people cannot become depend on them as they only offer advice and support, the final decision making is up to you.

When working with children there may be many key issues for you when supporting families. Practitioner must know how to promote them.
It is essential that practitioner respect the wishes of families and what they want doing. If I practitioner get too emotionally involved then this may be hard to keep. They must be able to establish trust when working with families; this is because if a family does not trust the practitioner then they will find it hard to talk to you. This means that the child’s best interest could be compromised, practitioners do not want to experiences arguments and hostility between them and parents as much as parents do not want this to happen.
Language barriers are also in an issue that arises for practitioners when at a setting. Children from all over the world attend different settings, and occasionally English is not there first language, other times the child may not even be able to speak English yet. It is important for the practitioner not to become frustrated and to understand that is not the child’s fault what language they speak, it is there for important for the practitioner to try and over come these issues. “Adults must spend time playing, doing activities and chatting with children. Chatting is quite important as children need to hear grammatically correct sentences rather than an over load of questions.” Practitioner should therefore try and talking to the child as often as possible. They should also talk to the parents about what step they can take for the child to help them develop, for instance the parents could try talking English at home more often than usual to try and help the child learn to their best ability.
Confidentiality is also an issue that arises some times. Information cannot be shared unless absolutely necessary, when it does arise that information must be passed on to other people this can become a issues as parents can become very angry with this.
Practitioners should never be judgmental. No matter what the situation, practitioners should always be respectful too. If a family has less money than another they should not and treat a child different, it is not their fault, all children have equal rights and are a unique individual. Although this may be hard for some practitioner it should not be done under any circumstances, as this can affect the child mentally and emotionally. Parents will also not like this and it could cause conflict and the practitioner may even loose their job.

Confidentiality is also an issue that arises some times. Information cannot be shared unless absolutely necessary, when it does arise that information must be passed on to other people this can become a issues as parents can become very angry with this.
Practitioners should never be judgmental. No matter what the situation, practitioners should always be respectful too. If a family has less money than another they should not and treat a child different, it is not their fault, all children have equal rights and are a unique individual. Although this may be hard for some practitioner it should not be done under any circumstances, as this can affect the child mentally and emotionally. Parents will also not like this and it could cause conflict and the practitioner may even loose their job.
