3.13.2 | Schools are made up ethos, missions, aims and values. They help a school give their pupils, staff, parents, carers, and visitors’ structure. An ethos is when the school has an agreement with the parent or LEA in which helps with the expectation of the school as a whole, their pupils and staff. A mission statement defines the way your school approaches education and helps parents decide if the school meet their views on educational goals. The aims of the school are more specific than the mission statement and relate to the intended outcomes for the pupils in the school. The value of the school are mutually agreed on the values and beliefs constructed by the whole school community for a sense of purpose that reflect the relative worth, merit or importance of the community. In my school our ethos, mission statement, aims and values are made in to one statement. * B— Build happy, confident unique and valued individuals. * Understand other people’s points of view even if we don’t agree. * Provide equality of opportunity whilst respecting difference and celebrating individuality. * I— Inspire individuals to be the very best they can be - Provide positive role models - Celebrate achievement * S— Secure a safe, caring environment in which children flourish. * Create a consistent, positive whole a school approach to behaviour * Acknowledge mistakes are valuable for learning. * H— Harness children’s interest and enthusiasm through high quality learning and teaching. * Be sensitive to, and provide for, different leaning needs and styles. * Develop skills and cooperation and collaboration. * O— Offer a broad, rich, stimulating and inclusive curriculum. * Be creative thinkers, resourceful and active learners * Encourage a sense of awe, wonder and curiosity about the world * Embrace lifelong learning * P— Promote Christian values within our wide and varied community * Harbour an ethos of mutual respect * Develop our role as a focus for the local community and foster positive partnerships. * S— Seize all opportunities to provide our children with the life skills they require and the experiences they deserve to become confident responsible citizens.In my school we have our BISHOPS poster around the whole school, entrances, classrooms, hallways, etc. We are proud of what our school has to offer and we want pupils, parents, carers, visitors and outside agencies to see what our school has to offer. The school works closely with the parents of the pupils and the community by putting on many praise and reward assemblies to show the parents what their children have been doing and how they are rewarded. We also put on a lot of fates, festivals, fund raisers, and shows to involve the community to support their local school and to see how the school uses any money that is raised among the community. The staff maintain friendly but professional manner in and out of the school environment, this ensures that we are representing what the school is and what is has to offer. |
