There are many benefits of both online and traditional school. The material covered in online courses vs. traditional school courses is basically the same, but the environment and the way courses are presented is different. Every student needs a certain amount of personal attention in a class and online classes make this especially easy to accomplish. The traditional learning environment consists of a classroom with almost thirty students with one teacher, and about forty five minutes to get through the days’ work. This would allow only a little longer than a minute for each student to converse with their instructor on a personal level. Online courses however, offer much more one on one time that leads to better understanding of the material covered in the lesson. Most importantly, students have to motivate themselves to study and complete assignments on time.
Online classes offer more direct assignments. As an online student you may have to read lessons quiet often and is usually tested on the reading material that you’ve have read. With being tested on your reading materials; this also helps develop reading comprehension and extends the vocabulary. In online courses you are not put on a certain schedule; you decide when, where and what time you should attend classes. Therefore, a person can pace themselves and learn at their own rate. Many times students are more involved in the discussion, because it is online and they feel more comfortable express their opinion than they normally would if it was face to face. Additionally, students who attend classes online will have a hard time to try to make friends in an online class, or they may never even meet the professor in real life. Online courses you don’t have no one to remind you when assignments or projects is due, therefore this taught me to check the classes daily or even every other day to make sure I stay up to date. Some people have different learning techniques. Some people may have to hear the lectures to remember it. Other people have to take notes as the professor is talking to remember it. If you’re not sure which learning technique is best for you; there are resources where you can take surveys or test where it evaluates your learning skills to help you decide what type of learner you are.
In an online course, you may never hear a professor teach, so you tend not to get bored as easily. A few courses may have like a video learning experience, many of the courses I have took had lab access to where one can listen and watch the lesson and be able to participate in them for grading. Besides, if you are not part of any classroom lectures, one doesn’t have to fight to stay woke to take notes. The only notes you would take are those you may find in your reading discussions or e books. Another great thing about going to school online is that it elimantes the need for paper, no paper means no heavy books, and no more hand writing.
