Tyler My mom always tells me “I don’t know what I would do without you”. Luckily she’ll never have to worry about that. Unfortunately, one of our close friends had to experience this. My mom has been best friends with Tracy ever since they were in middle school. They have been through everything together. However, last Easter they had to experience the worst thing anyone could ever have to go through. Tracy’s nephew, Tyler, had committed suicide. When Tyler committed suicide, it had several devastating effects on his friends and family. That Easter Sunday had begun like normal for everyone. All of Tracy’s family got together at Marsha’s, their mother’s house. They were getting ready to eat when they noticed Tyler was gone. All of the sudden they all got text messages from Tyler saying, “I’m sorry and I love you”. They all immediately began searching for Tyler. Finally they caught up to him by the river, my mom included. But by the time they got up to his truck it was too late. Tracy’s brother, Gail, opened the door and found him dead. It’s been almost six months now since Tyler died. Some people have moved on and accepted the fact that he’s gone; but others are finding it hard to do so. Many of Tyler’s close friends have become depressed since he committed suicide. A lot of kids at this age can’t handle the stress on top of the sadness of Tyler’s death. I have also had a lot of difficulty moving on without him. Tyler moved here from Florida four years ago. Since I am very close to Tracy and her family I was his first friend when he came here and we had been very close ever since he had moved here. It makes all of us so sad that he’s gone, and just the way he did it is terrifying especially to his family. Most of his friends, including me, wish that we could have helped him. I would give anything to go back and just talk to him about what all was going on. Some of his friends have gotten into more trouble than ever since he died. We all wish he was still here because he was a good friend to everyone and his smile could brighten up a room. After Tyler died his mom and stepdad became very fearful and lonely. Tyler had three younger siblings: James, Gabby, and Brooke. Tyler’s mom, Tammy, had the hardest time dealing with Tyler’s death. Everywhere she went she carried around a picture of Tyler with her. She couldn’t survive if she lost another person in her life, let alone another one of her children. After Tyler’s death, the children couldn’t do much of anything. Tammy travels for work a lot, so she made the kid’s stay with their aunts, uncles, and their grandmother. Her and her husband, Jeff, ended up getting a divorce not too long ago. This was one of the most devastating things that happened since Tyler died. Tyler has three aunts and two uncles that he was very close to. The whole family has been devastated by their loss. Gail, Tyler’s uncle who found him, has had one the hardest times. He has a daughter, Miley, who’s two and says she sees Tyler all the time. To lose someone like that is horrific. They never got the chance to say goodbye or I love you one more time. Tyler was very special in many way s to all of them. His death caused so much sadness to the family. Tyler’s death did, however, bring his family closer together. They all needed another in so many ways, especially Tammy. They all needed the support and strength of another to get through it. Now they all make it a point to get together as much as possible. They also talk to each other constantly. Around the time before Tyler died, Tracy had met a guy named Bob and they started dating. When Tyler died Tracy and Bob grew close and closer. They now live together and they are engaged. While Tyler’s death has brought so much sadness, it has also brought knowledge to the family of how they need and love each other. Tyler was a close friend and beloved family member of the Catt family. He is missed greatly be all and loved by many. His death still is devastating in so many ways.
