Two_Candidates_One_President

2013-11-13 来源: 类别: 更多范文

The two presidential candidates have views on many topics and issues that face the country. President Obama and Governor Romney view most of these issues in separate ways, and to identify where they stand you must conduct strenuous research. In watching the debates, I have not received much useful information. It seems like they would rather fight each other than explain themselves or the topics, so I turn my research to the internet. I found that one issue that the two candidates approach is taxes. How each of them will deal with taxes is not so similar though. Healthcare is another topic that both of these candidates face head on with different opinions. The first issue at hand and in my opinion the most important, taxation and reducing the debt of the nation. I will start with President Obama’s view on the issue. President Obama’s plan is to ‘invest in the middle class’ by investing in education and manufacturing to create an educated working class. He proposes that he will also bring spending down to the lowest it has been in 50 years. He believes that a strong middle class will help boost our economy. The President also proposes that millionaires have their taxes raised higher than the middle class taxation rate. The last portion of his plan is to reduce the deficit 4 trillion dollars through the next ten years with a balanced plan of reducing spending through the government and raise the revenue of the country. Governor Mitt Romney has a different view on taxation and the reduction of the debt that we have accumulated. Governor Romney wants to lower marginal rates by 20 percent. He will also maintain the current tax rates to the individual persons while cutting taxes for those with an income below 200,000 dollars. Mitt Romney, if elected, said that he would do away with the death tax and also repeal the Alternative Minimum Tax which has a great number of exemptions to individuals and corporations. Governor Romney would cut the corporate tax rate to 25 percent down from 35 percent which is one of the highest tax rates in the world. The second issue that the candidates face is healthcare and what they plan on doing to the healthcare laws. The President is trying to stop the neglect of the insurance company’s customers. President Obama strongly stands by the Affordable Care Act which holds the insurance companies at fault and do not permit them to drop someone due to being sick. The President also believes in strengthening Medicare and lowering the cost to stay healthy for the people with Medicare coverage. President Obama said that he will put a stop to the discriminatory methods that insurance companies use of charging women more than men for the same coverage. Governor Romney will start off by ‘fixing’ healthcare by giving the power to control the healthcare plan and local insurance companies back to the states. Romney states that he will promote free market of healthcare and let competition lower rates for insurance company consumers. The governor will let the people choose their own healthcare plan, and this will lower cost and raise the quality of the healthcare community. The first thing I think of when I hear about politicians is that they cannot be trusted with all the things they say, but this is not the case for our Presidential candidates. The Presidential candidates promise many things during their pursuit for an office. While not every one of their promises are kept, many of them are. From what I have learned through many fact checking websites, it seems as if both candidates have misled a small portion in their Presidential campaign. Many websites say that Mitt Romney walks around his idea for a long term healthcare plan. Even though it is one of the main topics on Americans minds, he has not given any explanation that I have seen. President Obama, on the other hand, has used false statistics to mislead voters into believing he has made a significant impact on the economy. Some fact checking websites say that Governor Romney’s tax plan is an impossible one. To lower taxes but also raise revenue simultaneously is mathematically impossible. Both of these candidates have misled us voters in some way or another, and I believe they do this on purpose. These fact checker websites have given me a better understanding on the topics and put the things that the candidates say into a more simple form. In conclusion, both candidates have said what they think should be done about the economy and healthcare. President Obama wants to cut taxes in the middle class and help the education of the working class. Governor Romney also wants to lower taxes, but distinct from Obama, all the way across the board; cutting taxes for the rich and poor alike. Governor Romney will give the power to control healthcare back to the states while Obama will stick with the Affordable Care Act. My views may be different from many other people, but I believe that in some cases you have to take the lesser of two evils. There can only be one winner at the end of the election, and it might not be the best suited for the role.
