As They Fell
The morning of September 11 was a sad day for everyone. We all remember that Tuesday morning waking up for school, making breakfast, sitting down and flipping on the T.V. and looking at the devastation caused in New York. The tears running down our faces as those historical landmarks fell like a crumbling Jenga blocks. The explosions, flames, smoke and ash were everywhere! People ran for there lives as others perished. So many families all over the country lost friends and loved ones on this horrific day. This event led the United States into war, created psychological cautiousness for all Americans because it was the first act of terrorism, and created a historical landmark in our country. This day will be remembered for many years to come as the day “they fell”.
“Our war on terror begins with Al Qaeda, but it does not end there, it will not end until every terrorist group of global reach, has been found, stopped and defeated” (George W. Bush) On Sept. 20, 2001, President Bush delivered an encouraging speech to America that rallied support for the “War on Terror,” which would eventually lead to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. This event was the spark that lit our match that we used to light our cannon’s. Why do they hate us' What did we do to them' They hate our freedom: freedom or speech, freedom of press, and freedom or religion. They envy us for who we are and becoming. It wasn’t till October 1st, 2001 till we made our first advancement into Afghanistan. Our goals were to capture bin Laden, destroy Al Qaeda, and remove the Taliban organization. This act of terrorism caused many years of fighting and many more to come.
At 8:46 on that September morning flight 11 crashed into the twin towers. Shortly after, 9:04, flight 175 hit the second tower. Within the next few minutes the towers began to fall one after another. Leaving a total of 2, 975 people that passed away. “These terrorist kill not merely to end lives, but to disrupt and end, a way of life.” (George W. Bush) This act of terrorism caused a psychological scar on all American minds. The Americans of our time have never had a real act of terrorism happen to them. So, when something new happens to everybody it becomes a new experience and usually makes an impact on someone’s memory. Therefore, when someone experiences something horrifying for the first time, it starts to create phobias and skepticism. That is what led to the American population being psychologically scarred. People would be scared for their life to get on another plane after 9/11 for many years because of the fact that it would happen again. Certain things, like planes or the twin towers site, would trigger these phobias to occur. Especially the twin towers site, which represents our country going into fear, and coming together as one to become the patriotic country we are today.
The United States of America is known for freedom. It is the land of the free and the home of the brave. Ever since the twin towers fell it showed a since of weakness. America was attacked, broken down and kicked in the butt, but we came back and rose above the occasion. We stood together as one and stood taller than we have ever had. Our country was ready to fight back, hands held, guns raised, ready to fight. The twin tower location is in a way a remembrance of our ability to overcome obstacles and rise above the occasion. It showed what the U.S.A. is all about! It was a sad day to remember but it was a day that wont be forgotten for years to come. Obstacles will come in life, but it is your responsibility so stand above it, and get threw it.
“Great tragedy has come to us, and we are meeting it with the best that is in our country, with courage and concern for others because this is America. This is who we are.”(George W. Bush) September 11, 2001 was a hard day to bear, for love ones, friends, and family. But we cant look at it as a bad thing, but a mistake we can learn from, a mistake that we will never make again, a mistake that will live on forever as an act of terrorism and bravery.
