Total Quality Pioneers The meaning of quality has a different meaning or element for each person. Each person or organization has a different expectation set for good quality. According to the business dictionary the definition of quality is to have an “attribute, characteristic, or property of a thing or phenomenon that can be observed and interpreted, and may be approximated (quantified) but cannot be measured, such as beauty, feel, flavor, taste.” “Total quality is an approach to doing business that attempts to maximize an organization’s competitiveness through the continual improvement of the quality of its products, services, people, processes, and environments” (Goetsch & Davis, 2010, p. 22). The elements of total quality are continually improving the quality of products, processes, services, and costs. Total Quality elements How the quality pioneers used the total quality elements made the pioneer successful because they found a system that produced the greatest amount of quality satisfaction. They did this by conducting consumer research and use it in planning product, produce the product. They checked the product to make sure it was produced in accordance with the plan. They would then market the product, analyze how the product is received in the marketplace in terms of quality, cost, and other criteria. Total quality has a mixture of related concepts pulled together. Elements are useful In today’s environment the elements of quality are so important because of the drop in the economy in the past three years. Consumers are allowed to be selective in their choice of organizations to conduct their business with. Organizations have to step up the elements of quality to attract consumers but to make sure they keep the consumers happy. These elements in quality are useful in making sure the organizations meet the quality standards for the organization in addition to the consumers. Future In the future I foresee that the standard of quality will become stricter and the elements will have to be met and exceed the minimum standards. As the economy took a turn for the worst a few years back and is moving in the direction of recovering. The elements of quality will have to be met to keep the organization running to the highest standards of quality and the consumers pleased with the quality of service to continue to return to the organization.
