Thinking
Humans have five different senses that are used to perceive the world around them. These senses help to interpret the surrounds that each human faces on a daily basis wither they are in the woods or in the office; these senses are used to start the thinking process on how to deal with certain tasks or objectives. Different surroundings call for different think patterns, the woods for example, may bring on the task of putting up a tent or creating a shelter of some kind. The office would bring different challenges such as filing or sorting papers in alphabetical order. Two different places yet there is still a thinking process that must begin and end.
The thinking process is different for each individual and the way that individual was raised and taught about certain elements can play a part in that individuals thought process. Remembering that first time going to the woods for a family camping trip and seeing how the adults acted and using those memories for use in later years. The teachings that each individual has endured during their childhood may play a significant role in how an individual may act as an adult today.
As a child I can remember a family camping trip to Oregon, the smell of the redwood trees, the sound of the birds and the cool breeze from the ocean are locked inside my memory. The tasks that my father and I did will stick with me for later to use when I take my children camping. I remember having to do certain tasks to make our lives more comfortable. Certain tasks such as gathering fire wood and setting up the tent seemed to take forever since I had never done these things before now, everything around me was so fresh and new to my brain, I continued exploring this vast new wilderness, and as I continued I realized I had lost my sense of direction.
The only way I safely returned to the camp was by listening and following the bellowing voice of my father calling my name. By hearing the tone in my father’s voice I was able to return safely. Being a child lost in the woods can surely be a frightening moment for a parent. If I was in the situation again I may have looked behind myself a few more times to realize I was getting to far away from camp, and my parents may be getting worried about me.
As an adult today I have learned to look behind and see what ground I have covered, this can be applied to anything that I do. As I write a paper I look back to see if I have covered everything, when I am driving I look back to see for other cars, I am constantly looking back making sure I have not forgotten anything. The act of looking back can save time, and can protect from making the same mistake twice.
The only downfall to this method of looking back is that it can stop me from pursuing things that I may want to accomplish. I look back, or remember an instance when my plan for something failed so looking back I won’t do it again. I use my past life as a excuse to not push forward and become stuck in a constant circle of the same old day in and day out routine because it is comfortable, and I know nothing will happen if I do this or that a certain way.
I think that when I think about something for too long instead of just going for it, I tend to think about what repercussions, or how my actions will affect other people. Being a very caring individual I have always had the tendency to put others before myself, and in turn I accomplish less of my own goals because I am constantly helping others with their own problems or tasks.
If I learn to put myself before others I may accomplish more, but I would not be as happy as I am right now. I have learned from my mistakes and am a better individual for them; some individuals continue to make the same mistakes constantly without adjustment or thought.
