The Revolutionary War in America (1775-1783) led to the birth of a new nation. The war began on April 19, 1775 with the Battles of Lexington and Concord. For years, Great Britain and the American Colonies quarreled with each other. The British government had passed a few laws in order to take total control over the 13 colonies. But Americans already had control over their local government within each of their colonies. When the Americans didn't obey the British law, war broke out. The Britain had an enormous and organizes army which was ready for battle. On the other hand, the Colonies weren't prepared for war at all. But shortly after, Soldiers from the colonies formed the first Continental Congress. The Congress voted to organize an army and a navy. After from the army, the congress needed an intelligent general, George Washington who was a former military officer was appointed commander in chief of the Continental Army. George Washington had amazing leadership skills. He also was prepared for anything, even though they were extremely outnumber and outgunned but he stood his ground and fought. He used the “Guerrilla tactics” which basically used small groups of people to ambush the enemy. The American Army was still losing and lost a lot of ground until the French and Spain Governments aided them. The war finally ended after a decade of fighting and the colonist were free in 1776. The war officially ended in 1783 and the last troop was found in New York City. In conclusion, even though they were outnumbered, their leader, George Washington, triumphed. During the Revolutionary war, George Washington displayed amazing leadership skill which help the colonists fight of the Britain army. At the end, on July 4th, 1776, the colonies were free from the British rule and the declaration of independence was announced.
