The_Definition_of_Philosophy

The Definition of Philosophy The world’s transformation from the beginning of time till the present day self sufficient juggernaut can only be credited to the many intelligent people along the way and their thirst of knowledge. The knowledge in which people thirst for or acquire through studies can be determined as many different meanings. The Greek Romans developed the overall concept of philosophy by taking the Greek work philosophia (meaning love of wisdom) and associating it with Greek intellect (later known as philosophers) and the two came together as the study of the universe developed. The definition of philosophy was formulated as the general study of fundamental problems concerning matters such as existence, knowledge, values, reason, mind, and language.  It is distinguished from other ways of addressing such problems by its critical, generally systematic approach and its reliance on rational argument (, p. 31). Philosophy traditionally transformed itself as the each era moved forward and adapted to the next new age. Philosophy generally takes on the identity of transpiring and difficult questions to follow verses traditional questions based scientifically and factually. Philosophers often frame their questions as problems or puzzles, in order to give clear examples of their doubts about a subject they find interesting, wonderful or confusing. Often these questions are about the assumptions behind a belief, or about methods by which people reason. Philosophers typically frame problems in a logical manner, historically using syllogisms of traditional logic, since Frege and Russell increasingly using formal systems, such as predicate calculus, and then work towards a solution based on critical reading and reasoning. Like Socrates, they search for answers through discussion, responding to the arguments of others, or careful personal contemplation. Most philosophical questions start by covering a broad spectrum of a topic, and through language is often narrowed down into ideas or concepts of origination. The questions often follow a line of debates which are followed by a question, and then another question leading to countless debates of origin or theories. The scientific and factual questions are typically a technique used by the masses that factual and scientific evidence backing the theory or thought process. Typically a question is asked and the background research is done to support or disproof the question. Then typically a hypothesis is generated and discussed to form a conclusion. Typically a scientific or factual question is approved or disproved rather quickly because facts are very hard to argue, thus typically having a short lived stint on the discussion table. Factual and scientific questioning generally follows certain mechanisms and they are: having a way of knowing, testable questions, explanations and evidence, and typically fall towards one direction or another and often do not fall in a “gray area.” The solution is clear cut when decided and also typically has a direction whether or not it is correct or not. The philosophical and scientific factual approach to questioning both serves their purposes in retrospect of being used. The topic or level of detail of the pertained question can lead into a discussion or inquiry that can travel down a discussion philosophically or factually. Often times for example, a lawyer can take a situation in a court room and argue it philosophical to generate ponder, thought, doubt, and gray area for his own benefit and then turn right around and discuss the same issue factual to show based on evidence this can only be integrated one way and that is his way. The art of questioning to obtain a particular outcome is well defined and can be extremely beneficial if properly executed. The level of philosophical questioning triggers a thought process that can often stumble upon new inventions or areas of knowledge not yet found or explored upon. Thus leading to new interventions or time warped areas that redefine an era or finish of a foundation in which one is starting and relay it back to philosophical time period in which relates or defines that moment or genera.
