CLUB IT PART 1 Danna Scott 03/10/10 BUS 119 Since Club IT is a brand new club, I was more than happy to take a look at what it had to offer, first-hand. At the owner’s request, I spent an evening enjoying the club and its amenities and I was pleasantly pleased. My visit allowed me to better assess where their business was headed, and what else could be done to bring the clientele and crowds in. The club is located in the Washington, DC area and has lots of competition in terms of club. However this club, has several amenities that other clubs do not have that make it much more appealing to the market. It is located within a few blocks from three transfer stops on the subway so it easily accessible to many, there is a wide variety of music including live music, and it has a roof deck that people will enjoy using when the weather permits. During my meeting, I will explain to the owners the ways that technology will improve and increase their business. The anticipated target area for their club should be no more than about a 30 mile radius from them, mostly working professionals with a target demographic between 30 and 45. This will give them a large range of working professional’s right in their area. Living in the Washington, DC area all my life, I have seen plenty of clubs come and go. Clubs that are targeted for ages 18-30, in the wrong neighborhoods, are usually closed down after less than a year. This is mostly due to complaints of disorderly conduct, crime, and noise disturbances. The older age demographic, in combination with a neighborhood that has a low crime rate and older professionals looking for a place to unwind, can be a prime time establishment. The unique layout of the club will allow for a large number of specialty uses for a lot of different types of acts to come in the club must have the software as well as hardware to make it happen. From projecters and screens to speaker and microphones and of the newly remodeled lighting system is a huge plus. The newly implemented pour stations will bring in more revenue by shortening the wait times and allowing for easier access. Each station will be a touch screen that are wired and connected to the cash registers. For this to be effective each a special software package will have to be purchased to document and record each order entered. The software will then take this information and turn it into useful data. It will determine things such as inventory needed, which drinks are not used as often meaning order less, which are ordered often which means order more. This will also help in terms of marketing happy hour and drink specials. Being a new and upcoming business the staff and budget are currently small but have potential and room to grow. Another suggested implementation is a website that is made by them. By making their own website they will save an enormous amount of money. The website will be user friendly and serve as a window into the establishment for each customer. It will have several pictures of the establishment from different areas both empty and during events. It will also allow customers to view happy hour specials, upcoming acts, request information on private parties, and sign up for email alerts. The club itself should really consider purchasing a wifi setup and offering free wifi to club members, this will be not only a useful too to the customers but a great asset to the company to have a high speed internet connection. The club is also lacking in security so I would also recommend purchasing a closed circuit surveillance system. This would help to monitor and record the actions of the club. Not only will that help keep an eye on your patrons but employees as well if needed. This system can be used either in the club or remotely in another location. This type of system can be extremely helpful during emergency situations or criminal activity. Because of this, I would also recommend backing up their information and recordings on a third party storage unit such as Amazon. Companies such as this allow exceptional storage options at comfortable prices for small businesses. In closing, technological advances can be good for your company coming up. It can help get the word out as well as prepare you for any changes that might arise in your company. These ideas will not only make the club more efficient and cost effective but it will also provide your business with a smaller carbon footprint.
