| POSITIVE ENVIROMENT AND REGULATION 1.1-A describe what is meant by positive environment A positive environment and routine will help and understand the emotional needs of children and their families. Feeling welcome accepted and valued whatever the circumstances or background It is essential to their well-being. Children and families are better able to cope with new and stressful situations when they feel confident in expressing their feelings to others. Encouraging and maintaining good professional relationships based around trust partnership is a key part of this process. When a child’s individual needs are acknowledged support and sensitively met, their whole family will benefit from it. * Warm welcoming to children & parents (smiling staff, communication verbal or non verbal knowing they preferred name of each child / care. * Equal access for children/cares including those with disability putting posters /pictures that reflect diversity. * Promoting healthy eating * Attractive colors and light * Praise and encouragement while experimenting * Group activities (working together or sharing) * Choice that meets each child’s individual needs * Two way “empowering” must work in partnership with parent/carers.   1.2- Identify regulatory requirements that underpin a positive environment Children Act 1989- child's needs are paramount every environment must reflect children’s individual needs with regard to race, religions, culture, ability and disability. The welfare of the child must be considered at all times and their right and wishes should be taken into consideration. Act 2000- care standards, code of practice for Children with special needs. The registered person is aware that some children may have a special needs and is proactive in ensuring that appropriate action can be taken when such a child is identified or admitted to the provision. Steps are taken to promote the welfare and development of the child within the setting in partnership with the parent and other relevant parties. Act 2004- Every Child Matters is a set of reforms supported by the Children Act 2004. Its aim is for every child, whatever there background or circumstances, to have the support they need to: * Be healthy * Stay safe * Enjoy and achievement * Make a positive contribution, * Achieve economic well being. This means every setting should work with its partners, through children's trust partnerships, to find Out what is the best way for children and young people in its area. They need to involve children and young people In this process, and inspectors will take Account of the views of children and young people when making their judgments. Act 2006 - inspected by ofsted  The Education and Inspections Act represents a major step forward in the Government’s aim to ensure that all children in all schools get the education they need to enable them to fulfill their potential. Behavior Adults caring for children in the provision are able to manage a wide range of children’s behavior in a way, which promotes their welfare and development. EYFS- Early years foundation stage from birth to 5 years Every child deserves the best possible start in life and support to fulfill their potential. A child’s experience in the early years has a major impact on their life chances. A secure, safe and happy childhood is important in its own right, and it provides the foundation for children to make the most of their abilities and talents as they grow up. When parents choose to use early years services they want to know that provision will keep their children Underpinning a positive environment HEATING * Temperature at 15 – 18 C or 20-22C for babies * Smoke alarms and emergency equipment available * Radiators and pipes covered Lighting and electricity * All areas well lit for full visibility * Current breakers for all electrical * Plugs covered Ventilation * Window * Window opens when necessary to circulate air so that there are no draughts * The space used must meet basic requirement s * Locks and toughened glass on windows on windows Doors and gates * All the external gates and doors locked coded as coded as appropriate * Handles and locks out of reach of children * Toughen glass where necessary Outdoors and indoors surfaces * Stable * Non slippery * Soft under climbing equipment * Easy cleanable Access points This areas must always be kept clear should be unlocked and made know to all children and adults and visitors incase of emergency evacuation
