BIS 219 July 20, 2012 Ursula Woodruff Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) is traditional methods in development that are utilized by organizations and business on a larger scale for IT projects. The framework for SDLC is very structured and consists of methods that are completed in succession during the progression of the information systems. The first step of the process includes a study to show the strengths and weakness of the business venture or a feasibility study. This step allows the software analyst to perform duties with strategy makers to institute an agreement in resolution about the interpretation of the scope of the project. This step also defines and establishes the related objectives and goals. During step two the analyst makes revisions to the goals that were previously defined requiring specifications definition. The functions of performance and operations for the application of the software will be introduced. Step three includes the analysis of systems. The analyst examines the requirements of the end-users and creates a specific action plan to address the information needs. In step four, the software development team works together to design the system. The team identifies and explains each of the operations, features, and functionalities that are required. They provide and furnish detailed information regarding the SDLC process, related standard and business rules, each screen layout, DFD and diagram process, other documentation related to the process, and pseudo-code. Step five is referred to as the implantation process. During this stage the program code is developed and written. This process is divided among an assigned to all team members for participation. The testing and integration phase occurs in step six. In this step the developed modules are brought together in one logical system by the developers. The case studies are also tested for errors, bugs, and functionality. The testing measures mentioned are standard for this step. Step seven includes the performance of the product. The software package is imported on the end-users unit and the businesses target information is set for the SDLC product. The products maintenance for the required system adaptations is included in step eight. Also included in this last step is movement of the interplatform, additions, and any other corrections that may be needed or required.
