Legion of Mary is a community of non-geographical which includes common ideas, interests, loyalty and a sense of belonging. I have chosen this community because I am a member of this community for 3 years. I truly appreciated all the work from the members who has done to the community. However, one of the structures of being members in the community is to become an instrument of the Holy Spirit through a balanced program of prayer and works. The works that we do in this community is voluntary include door-to-door resident homes, parishioner visitation, prison ministry, visitation of the sick or aged, crowd contact, religious education, visiting the newly baptized, Pilgrim Virgin Statue rotations, and meeting the other spiritual needs of the parish community. Though, Legionaries are under the guidance of a spiritual director and it is the largest apostolic organization of lay people in the Catholic Church, with well over 3 million active members. It has been approved by the last 6 Popes, and was endorsed by the Second Vatican Council. The main purpose of the Junior Legion of Mary community is to give glory to God through the blessing of its members and preparation of its members to enter the Senior Legion Community. Those under the age of 18 and interested in the Legion of Mary should attend meetings at a Junior Presidium. Upon reaching 18, they may then attend meetings at a senior presidium. The Legion is an extension of the heart and hands of the pastor. Our members meet once a week for prayer, planning and discussion in a family setting. Then they do one hour of definite work each week in pairs and under the guidance of their spiritual director. In addition to that we also We Perform Works as Assigned by our Spiritual Director, Such As: • Visiting Elderly Visiting Nursing Homes and interacting with the patients there. • Pilgrim Virgin Enthronement Taking a Statue of the Virgin Mary from home-to-home of people who have signed up to receive her, and saying prayers with them • Making Rosaries To be given out during other Legionary activities • Crowd Contact Giving out sacramental and literature at fairs bazaars, to the East Falls Church Metro Station, and other places along side Senior Legionaries. • Teaching CCD Being an aid or teacher of CCD. This work provides an excellent way of getting in touch with the Catholics who need attention or who have drifted into the category of lapsed, that is those who have lost all association with the Church. Going in the name of the priest, visitation should if possible be from door to door. It is taken as a matter of course by the persons visited that particulars as to religion should be asked, and as a rule they are cheerfully given. The theories of Social-Psychological on this community member in here fell like a family and we are taking this as an advantage to share our lives which included in what we have learned is much that will form subject for long-continued effort on the part of legionaries. Everyone in the community care for each other, the majority of the members is very humble and lovable of doing the charitable work. Thus, this can be carried out as part of visitation work or as a special work in itself. Only too often we placed in households indifferent or hostile to the faith, viewed as simple machines, isolated, frequently migrants or immigrants with no friends, and reduced to forming chance relationship full of the possibilities of disaster, Catholic domestic workers are in need of special care and support. Making contact with them forms an apostolate of a notable kind. To them, the regular visits of legionaries considerate for their welfare of live. However, the Community development the object will be to bring them into membership of Catholic societies or clubs, into suitable friendships, and perhaps, in many cases into legionary membership itself. Needless to say, this work will help to direct many on new geography and environmental influences and happier paths, leading on to safety and holiness. The circumstances of these people's lives incline them to neglect of religion and expose them to many pitfalls. Therefore an apostolate among them is doubly desirable. As access to military establishments may not always be easy to civilians, effective work for soldiers may require the setting up of presidia composed of soldiers. This has already been done in many places with signal success. It is the duty of each legionary to gain auxiliaries and to try to keep in touch with them. Consider the generosities of these auxiliaries who have given up to the Legion part of the precious breathings of their souls. Yet, the possibilities of purity are in them and The Legion community is under infinite liability to them. That liability it can beautifully repay by leading those supplementary aid on to perfection. Active members and supplementary aid, both are children of the Legion. Our Community development corporations is to have a goal of the auxiliary rises a great structure of holiness and for the active legionary there is the builder's reward. Therefore, this work for the auxiliaries is so full of possibilities that it seems to call for the specialized attention of some highly spiritual members of the presidium.
