Svq_3_Reflect_and_Develop_My_Practice

Reflect and develop your practice . I first started with the mungo foundation 13 years ago as a relief worker this however was not my first role within the care sector. I had previously worked within the addictions service and the young homeless. Early teachings within my family of catholicism installed good values within my life I E to see individuals holistically and to treat all individuals with respect and dignity. Before gaining employment within the mungo foundation I had also worked within the armed forces as a military police officer and had never worked or spent any time with individuals who had learning difficulties. And new nothing of there life styles however I quickly learned through communication by listening and respecting each individual that they where not much different from other individuals in my life they treated me with respect and dignity and I treated them likewise. It took time to build relationships with some of the individuals but in time gained there trust through mutual respect and through working with each individual they also tought me the values I believed in. watching and listening to each individual and listening to them interacting with each other and by understanding and chatting with them it was very clear they also had the same values as myself in life and also wanted to be treated with respect and dignity and treated as individuals and to be given and allowed choices in there life whether they be the right choices or not in life. And had the right to make those choices for themselves . On gaining employment with the mungo foundation I was inducted by the company and had explained tome there core values within the care field and through my own beliefs knew what would be expected of me within my roll as a support worker but still new I had a lot to learn within the learning difficulties sector. However I new through the mungo foundation company structures this would be achieved through their training calendar and supervision and evaluation structure and have to adhere to polices and procedures of the mungo foundation and also laws that have implications of the standared of care that is expected from companies that work within the care sector and how polices and procedures and laws interact within each other. The latest one being the care standards act. This was achieved through consultation with my line manager for myself and them to help with my individual training plan for self development. I was aided to do this through supervision and evaluation and my own personal development plan allowing me to identify areas of training that I require through personal reflection . Throughout the time I have been employed by the mungo foundation I have achieved a full time position and continue on a daily basis to reflect on my own working practice and that of other staff by writing daily reports and then discussing those notes with the individual service user and having daily change overs allowing the staff team to discuss how the shift before has went. Allowing myself and other staff team to reflect on our own practice. To see if anything different that I or the staff team could have done. Supervision gives me the chance to converse with my manager in private and allows me to help identify areas of my working practice that may still need to be enhanced and allowing myself to seek out training for my personal development and areas that I need training in.once agreed in the areas of training I require this would be recorded in my personal supervision notes and goals set this would also be recorded in my personal development plan. Once recorded on my supervision notes and both parties agree and signed them it would be stored in my own personal development plan and stored away in a locked cupboard under the data protection act .through supervision there was training areas I did require IE fire warden, calm training moving and handeling and areas of need for my own personal development that I identified IE induction of the organisational new care plans being introduced and once training was completed it was stored away in a locked cupboard under data protection and organisational policies. On completion of training through supervision I asked my manager for constructive feedback which again was recorded in my supervision notes. The main training areas that where identified for my own personal development was svq3 which I am doing at the moment. Dur to my working experience and knowledge within the care sector of addictions and learning difficulties that I had the qualities and attributes needed to help others in life and to experience new oppertunities and decided while working full time within the mungo foundation to do a 3 year diploma in counselling and psychotherapy at the uk open university which I gained in sep 2010 and passed with distinction.
