Supply and Demand Being a single mother as well as a kid at heart I look forward to our yearly vacation to Disney Land in Anaheim California. My children and I have made several trips to our favorite vacation spot making it a good that I have had experience purchasing. Since we live five hours away in Phoenix Arizona it is a vacation that is more realistic than others that are in farther away states and locations. In the past I have done some research on prices to try and save as much money as I can. During our trips we have to account for several different purchases not just the tickets for the amusement park. Since we are so close we have the less expensive option of driving leaving us with the cost of gas. We also have to account for the cost of the hotel and food as well as the cost of the amusement park itself. During my years of researching the most economic avenues of all the expenses of our Disney trip I noticed that depending on the seasons, the tickets and added expenses were much more expensive. I also noticed that usual times that children were out of school the demand for the tickets were higher and there weren’t as many good deals of bundles and prices. During the time that the kids are usually out of school the weather is usually amazing as well which can defiantly play a part in the supply and demand. During the times that we usually visit the park, the prices of the tickets are out of this world high and with the extra visitors in the area the prices for the hotels and other attractions are high as well. The establishments know they can charge what they want because we’re paying the price of Disney and we need a place to rest our tired heads so were going to pay the price of a nice hotel resulting in a high demand of the rooms. During all of my researching I added myself to an alert that would email me when there were great deals on the tickets to the park. During November I had gotten an alert for an unbeatable price and decided to go for it but when I called some of the hotels they were all sold out. It was explained to me that because of the increase in price of the tickets the hotel rooms were all sold out from the parks visitors that were saving so much money on the tickets. I also got an alert informing me of the idea to buy daily park hopper tickets from an outside ticket booth for a fraction of the price. Since during the good weather seasons the costs of tickets are so high the demand for the ticket venues to sell and transfer the park hopper tickets was high. After purchasing a park hopper ticket from an outside venue and going through that process I will never purchase the tickets through Disney again. Almost every time that we have made our yearly trip to Disney Land we have gone in the months of May or June. Considering my children start their summer break in May this time works perfect. Since most kids are on summer break during that time as well the park is usually packed but don’t think that the large crowds are going to detour us from visiting the land of Disney. When we do go we are stocking up on other products and goods that we normally wouldn’t purchase or purchase as much as. In order to drive we purchase more gas than usual and even at times we have rented a rental car to make our trip. During this time is also when we usually stock up on sunscreen as well. If you have ever been to Disney Land then you would know that there is nothing like the real thing unless you want to go to another Disney for example Disney World in Florida. Disney is of course trademarked so it is what it is. Since Disney is what it is the price is going to be paid regardless There have defiantly been a few summers that we have contemplated going the least expensive route by visiting an amusement park here in the Phoenix area but in the end we have decided it’s not the same so therefore Disney Land is defiantly and inelastic good in our book. I’m sure there are others that think differently about Disney Land so it’s defiantly a personal preference. The summers here in Phoenix are unbearable to be in so I did look into us visiting Wet and Wild instead and noticed that the prices were up depending on the weather as well. Considering Wet and Wild is only open a fraction of the year the demand for Disney goes up even higher!
