Summer Vacation
Summer oh summer. June 28, 1997; a boring summer day like usual. I would stay home, eat my brunch, watch television, snack, go on the computer, talk to friends, text friends, call friends, eat dinner, get ready for bed, read a comic book, and got to sleep like around 12 or 1. I would wake up like at noon. However, today was different. I was going to my grandma’s house today. I would call it my grandparent’s house, but my grandpa died like 4 years back.
The bright sun shined in my eyes as I looked out the window of the car. It’s so hot that I could feel the dreadful UV rays pierce into my skin. We get to the house, since I have never gone to the house; I have no clue of how it looks like. It was a large mansion-like figure and it looked like it was going to fall apart any second. I can’t believe that my grandmother still lives here.
I walked up to the front door and rang the door bell. Ding-Dong-Dong-DONG. The door opened slowly and a pale young lady stood in the doorway.
“Excuse me, are you Jay'” she asked me.
“Yes. I am looking for my grandmother. May I see her'” I asked.
“Why yes. She is in her room. Please step inside Jay,” she proclaimed.
I stepped inside and the floor creaked with each step I took. Please follow me. When I looked at the back of the lady that led me upstairs, she had a tattoo of a snake on a star on the back of her neck. When we got to the top of the stairs, she led me to a room with a bed and a mirror in it.
“This is where you will be staying,” she said.
“May I ask, what is your name'” I asked her.
“Diane, Diane Reap,” she replied. “Your grandmother’s room is the room at the end of the hall to the left of your doorway okay' By the time you both get downstairs, dinner will be sitting on the dining room table,” Diane explained.
“Okay. Thank you,” I thanked her.
I was only going to stay at the house only for a night and return home after lunch tomorrow so I thought, I should just relax. I’ve never spend time with my grandmother, so it’s good to spend time with her once in a while right' I walked down the hall to my grandmother’s room. I knocked on the closed door.
“Yes'” a frail voice called.
“Grandma' It’s me Jay. May I come inside'” I asked.
“Yes, yes dear please do.”
I opened the door and saw my grandmother lying on her bed reading a book. The title read, Do you believe in Ghosts'
“Grandma, isn’t it too early for reading ghost books' Halloween is four months away,” I explained to her.
“Why dear, do you not believe in ghosts'” she asked.
“No, I don’t grandma,” I replied.
“Well, believe because they are REAL.”
“Let’s go downstairs grandma, dinner’s waiting,” I told her.
She got up slowly, but she made it out of bed safely, without hurting herself. We walked down the stairs and into the kitchen. Dinner was sitting on the table and steaming hot. Diane however, wasn’t there. We ate dinner and talked about how much we haven’t done together in years. After we finished eating, I put the plates in the sink. And the water just turned on by itself. I turned to see my grandma heading up the stairs to her room. I turned back around to see Diane sitting on her legs crossed.
“So, how was the meal'” she asked.
“Good. Thanks,” I replied.
“Oh when you sleep tonight, you better say your prayers,” she said in a mysterious voice.
“I will.” Diane smiled widely as I ran upstairs.
I wished my grandmother goodnight and sweet dreams then I heard a banging. Like a hammer hitting a nail into the wall. It was coming from downstairs. I ran down to see what was going on. The faucet was running and no one was there. I walked up to the faucet and turned it off I became dizzy all of a sudden.
“What are you doing up'” Diane asked. I turned around and she was sitting on a chair stirring tea.
“I just heard a banging and I thought something was going on and I came to check up on it,” I replied.
“It’s okay Jay. I have it under control down here. Just worry about upstairs okay'”
“Oh, okay,” I replied. I ran back upstairs and jumped into bed. My head hurt so badly.
Around 2:00 in the morning I heard footsteps coming up the stairs. I thought that it was just Diane coming up to check on me and my grandmother. I squinted in the dark and saw my door open real slowly all the way, but no one was there! I just saw something fuzzy. Since I wasn’t wearing my contacts, it was really hard to see. The fuzzy object approached me step-by-step. I could hear the creaking of the floor with every step. It got closer and closer. I wanted to know if it was Diane or grandma so I said, “Hello'”
The fuzzy figure just vanished and my door slammed shut. OH MY GOD! What was that'! Oh god that was creepy, I thought to myself. This event had occurred about two more times the same hour. I got tired of being freaked out by this figure so, I went down stairs and grabbed a flashlight that felt like a rectangular shaped stick however, I could still barely see. I walked upstairs to my grandmother’s room and saw her lying on the bed. I squinted at her and shown the flashlight in her face. I pulled it back and forth and then I got bored. I climbed on the bed and lay next to my grandmother and put the flashlight in her old, wrinkly hand.
I woke up the next morning and there were sirens booming from outside. Officers surrounded my side of the bed.
One officer said, “Miss, do you know what happened here'”
“What do you mean officer'” I asked.
“Look next to you.”
I turned to my right to see my grandmother stabbed in the face 5 times and a knife stuck in her right hand.
“Officer what happened'! What happened to my grandmother!'” I exclaimed.
“Well, from the looks of it, you were the culprit,” the officer explained pointing to my bloody hand with small knives in them. My grandmother had small knives in her legs.
“I couldn’t have killed my grandmother!” I exclaimed.
“Then who else could have done it' The is no one else around,”
