Human Resources Managers role is different from one organization to another. In this paper it will explain the roles and responsibilities of a Human Resources Manager, discuss recruitment and retention. It will also discuss the employee performance, regulatory compliances and lastly it will discuss compensation and benefits for employees. Most importantly after reading this paper, everyone should be able to have a greater understanding of the roles and responsibilities of the Human Resources Manager.
The Human Resources Managers responsibilities in the recruitment and retention of employees, the important part of recruitment and retention is to first advertise the opened positions and all the requirements for the positions in the newspapers, and in some cases they are able to post the position online or even have a recruitment event. Some of the other responsibilities of Human Resource Managers consist of overseeing and reviewing the applications and resumes, making appointments for interviews with prospective employees and offering the open position to the candidate best suited for the position. When it comes to retaining employees, one of the Human Resources Managers responsibilities is to offer certain programs for the employees, such as award and recognition programs, possible child care assistance, as well as tuition assistance, and there are also career development opportunities and advancement opportunities too. Human Resources Management want to also establish and follow thru with a retirement package and make sure that it surpasses other health care companies in the area.
Another thing that Human Resources Management may have to deal with is training and development but that is depending on the organizations size, but it is also frequently found as a separate, function reporting to other major departments. The training of nurses has previously been in the Nursing Department alone. However, now training and development is available, and sometimes required, for all people in all departments of the health care industry. The Human Resources Chief Officer is usually given the task and responsibility of training non-clerical skills and management development to all employees. However, some educational and clinical training still remain the responsibility of the Nursing Department. The Human Resources Manager usually deals with professional and a few support personnel of comparable skills, making the people problems fewer and correction actions far less necessary. Human Resources are responsible for conducting and analyzing performance reviews from all different departments. If an employee is not doing the work that is assigned to them or is constantly tardy or absent than Human Resources is responsible for the disciplinary action taken against that employee up to termination from the organization.
Compensation and benefits can be a bit tricky because the employee’s performance is influenced because of the compensation that they receive as well as the benefits, which means the effects can switch too. The way that they would like to see any situation play out is that the employees feel that they are paid the money that they are worth and then they are rewarded accordingly to their performance on the job not just because of the benefits and compensation that they would receive. Compensation should be legal and ethical, adequate, motivating, fair and equitable, cost-effective, and able to provide employment security (Cherrington, 1995). The role of a Human Resources Manager varies from organization to organization.
This paper has explained a few of the roles and responsibilities of the Human Resources Manager. Most important after reading this paper, everyone has a greater understanding of the roles and responsibilities of the Human Resources Manager. This paper helped to explain the roles that the Human Resources Manager has to go through each day that they are on the job and how to do them properly.
