TDA 2.5 SCHOOLS AND ORGANISATIONS 1.1 1.2: Voluntary aided : is a state-funded school in England and wales in which a founddation or trust owns the school buildings, contributes to building cost and has a substantial influence in the running of the school. free schools: free to attend and not controlled by local authorities. Inderpendant schools: inderpendent in its finances and governance, it is not depending upon nation or local goverment . Special schools: is the education of students with special needs in a way that addresses the students diffrenes and needs. Sports academy: is a school that has a wide range of sports facilties and has more sports in there curiculum. Motessori schools: students learn concepts from working with materials, rather then by direct instruction. 2.1 School governors: are members of a school governing body. In state schools they have responsibility for rasing school standers through their three key roels of setting strategic direction, ensuring accountabillity and acting as a critical friend. Senior management team: is usually made up of the headteacher and deputy head but that can be varied depending on the size of a school. Their role is to set the strategic direction of the school and manage this, lead any changes and generally make sure that the schools is doing the best it can for the children to attend. SENCO: working with and contributing to the traning of other teachers. Keeping in touch with the perents of children of SEN, also working with othere agencies, including the educational pycholgy and voluntary bodies. Teachers: is the person who provides education to childern and students, there role is often formal and ongoing, carried out in schools or othere place of formal education. Support staff: learning support staff work with teachers in classrooms, helping pupils progress their learning. They inculde teaching assistants (TAs) and higher level teaching assistants (HLTAs). 2.2 Roles of external profssionals who may work with a school. Socail servises, educational psycholgists, educational welfare officer, police, behaviour support team, heath visort, school nurse, occupaonal theapist, specialist teachers, play workers, physiotherapist. Some of there roles exsplaned : Educaional welfare officer: identifying attendance problems and possibel solutions, advising parents about their legal responssibillity to make suer their children recive an education up to the age of 16, also helping familys receive benefits shuch as financaial helps with school meals, transport and clothing. Play workers: developed from the need to compensate childern for the loss of natural play, they identify and remove barriers. Play workers empower childern and therefore support them to raise their self-esteem and build there confidence. Behaviour support team: they help imporve behaviour in primary schools, working along side teachers, supporting staff and governors to find practical ways to increase positive behaviour. 3.1 Aims and values: schools will use words such as , kind, thoughfulness, wonderful, all positve words used as a feel good speach, that are on letter heads , boards and web pages,
