SCH 31 Assessment task SHC 3.1 Promote communication in health and Social Care or Children’s and young people settings Assessment criteria 1.1 and 1.2 • An identification of the different reasons people communicate • An explanation of how communication affects relationships in the work setting Introduction Communication is very important aspect in the work setting. It helps to provide good relationships between staff and parents and, to maintain help safety care of the children. Good communication helps all the staff to work as a team which in turn leads to through/efficifcant care and education of the children in their care. Summary People communicate for many different reasons example include, to share options, knowledge reasons and feelings, to share ideas, to express feelings, in order to express and maintain relationships with other people, to give and receive information and instructions to understand things ,and to be understood. To give encouragement and to show others they are valued. Communication is an essential and basic requirement of my job role with individuals and their families and other members of staff on a daily basis. Communicating with other staff ensures effective team working and continuity of care it also ensures that health and safety is maintained and safety issue are recognised immediately and reports appropriately...All careers attend hand over at the beginning of each shift and also complete communication books/sheets after attending to an individual. By doing this other staffs are informed and aware of current situations in the workplace. Individuals/parents communicate to carers to express their needs and preferences to ensure they are met as a carer I would discuss the options and choices available to the individuals to allow them an informed choice in regards to their care. A breakdown of communication in the work setting can cause all types of problems. For example a sense no anxiety alienation and isolation. When working in a team you need to be a team player and be able to get along with everyone you work with. If people don’t communicate well they limit the ability to connect at any meaningful level and at the worse can cause conflict which could .compromise the safety of the children under your care.Positive communication skills like listening open-ended questions using a calm tone. Help to keep situations at a level and unite the team as they are behaviours that lead to sustained relationships. Conclusion Communication affects relationships in many different ways in the work setting. For example with colleges, the manager, or supervisor and also the parents of the child and child. Effective communication is a two-way process the person communicating has to send a clear and concise message to the responding party. The message must be understood correctly to have a responce.Communication can be in the way of telephone, written notes, email alerts, text messages, and vocal. Communication is very important in the work setting.Identifieng different ways of communication and understanding them is vital for good working relationships with other staff and parents. People with English as a second language should have assistance with communication to enable them to work as a team.
