1. Describe what your role, responsibilities and boundaries would be as a teacher in terms of the teaching/training cycle.
A teacher should communicate in a manner that is appropriate to all . You need to be aware of your boundaries as well as the environment that you are to work in. You are to make certain, that health and safety issues are taken into consideration before you can proceed with each session of the lesson plan. Part of your responsibilities as a teacher is to create a safe learning environment, motivate students and establish open and trusting relationships . You are not to impose your opinion on your students.
A good understanding of the aims and objectives relating to development with the course is of paramount importance. As the session progresses, the students should be certain of each item discussed or delivered, before you carry on or move on to a different topic. You should check for learning and ensure key points are recorded.
All learners are different, and have different learning styles hence teacher should use various methods of delivering, i.e visual, auditory and kinaesthetic learning styles, to encourage inclusion and promote differentiation.
The teacher should be able to identify students who require extra help or support (to further their learning experience) beyond your responsibilities and signpost or refer them accordingly. Having carried out an induction and or initial assessment, you would have been privy to information about each student which should allow you to make some form of assessment. It is the teachers’ responsibility to monitor, evaluate and improve the quality and effectiveness of their delivery by taking into account learners changing needs.
Reflecting on which instructional approaches and strategies worked or didn't work is essential if teachers are to continually improve their teaching and better meet the needs of their students. At the end of each session, the teacher should conduct an evaluation; complete a reflective review to ensure that the aims and objectives of the lesson have been met. One of the main responsibilities of the teacher is to continually reassess developments during the course and fill any gaps appropriately.
