Q2-What are the names of the key adult workers in the schools' ANSWER-The names of the key adult workers in the schools are: ● Head Teacher ●Assistant Head Teacher ● Deputy Head Teacher ●Teachers ●Teaching Assistant ●Supporting Teaching Staff ●Form Teacher ●Head of Key Stage ●Learning mentor ●HLTA •SENCO •Welfare Occupational Office •Physiotherapist/Occupational therapist •Speech and Language therapist •Technicians •Caretaker •Cook •Midday assistant/ supervisors •Educational psychologist Q3- What are the roles and responsibilities of the key individuals that work in a school, e.g. SENCO, teachers and support staff' ANSWER- Following are the roles and responsibilities of the key individuals that work in a school: SENCO- They work for the special educational need children in schools .They work with parents and otherprofessionals .They monitor and review the special needs of the pupils and keep their records up to date. TEACHERS- They are responsible to plan and prepare the task of the class. In some schools they teach the whole National Curriculum, mostly in primary schools.But, in some schools they have to be Form Teacher. They are subject specialists also in Secondary School. SUPPORT STAFF- The support staffs are individuals who help the other key workers of the schools and help the other individuals who also work in the schools like the staff that help breakfast club, afterschool clubs, and midday supervisors, catering staff, caretaker, site managers, parent support workers, specialist and technicians. SENIOR MANAGEMENT TEAM- The team or the groups of peoples who manage the schools are the Senior Management Team, including Head, the more experienced staff, Head of years and deputy head teachers and so on. The school improvement plan is under their supervision. TEACHING ASSISTANT- They work with teachers daily. The teacher may involve them in planning and preparing the materials for the lessons.Under the directions of the teachers, they may assess or evaluate the student work and give feed back to the teachers. CARETAKER- They open and close and lock and unlock the school gates and the building. They monitor and administer CCTV system. They take general care of the schools. Q4- What are the roles of three external professionals that can be called upon for help when required e.g. educational psychologist' ANSWER: The roles of external professionals that can be called upon for the help when required are explained below: Educational psychologist- They are concerned with helping children and young people who are experiencing problems within an educational setting with the aim of enhancing their learning. Challenges may include social or emotional or learning difficulties. Task typically involves: 1. Assessing learning and emotional needs by observing and consulting with multi-agency teams to advice on the best approaches and provisions to support learning and development. 2. Advising,persuading, supporting and negotiating with teachers, parents and other education professionals. Educational Welfare Officer- sometimesknown as Education Social Worker works with schools, pupils, and families to resolve issues of poor attendance. Their responsibilities include. • Meeting with school staff, pupils and parents to identify problems and possible solutions. • Making home visits or meeting pupils and parents in school to provide on-going support. • Encouraging parents to make a good relationship with the schools. • Help to arrange alternative education for pupils who are excluded from school. Occupational therapist or physiotherapist- in schools, they evaluate children’s abilities, recommend and provide therapy, modify classrooms equipment’s, help children participate as fully as possible in schools programmes and activities. Therapist works with children, consults with a teacher, or serves on a curriculum or other administrative committee. Specific therapies may include facilitating the use of the hands, promoting skills for listening and following directions, fostering social skills, or teaching dressing and grooming skills. They monitor the progress of these student and then report back to individuals like SENCO or nurse. Speech and language therapist- do not normally come into mainstreamschools. Their work usually based in units attached to schools or in special schools or in community health centres. They accept referrals from teachers and are willing to give advice to any teacher phoning up for help. They work closely with parents, carers and other professionals such as teachers, nurses, occupational therapist and doctors. They work with children with mild, moderate and severe learning difficulties, physical disabilities, language delay, and specific difficulties in producing sounds, stammering, dyslexia, and voice disorder and so on.
