| |Review your role, responsibilities and boundaries as a teacher would be in terms of the teaching cycle. |
This essay will review what my Roles Responsibilities and Boundaries as a teacher would be in terms of the teaching cycle.
Role, responsibility and boundaries are all developing qualities of a teacher, which are assessed and looked at using the teacher/training cycle. A cycle which consist of assessment, planning and on going review.
A teacher’s responsibility is to ensure that the client group they are teaching are catered for. The teacher being responsible for the monitoring, evaluating and changing the teaching as the learners needs change. this can only be done by continual monitoring and evaluation. As learners develop a better understanding of the aim and objectives their needs change. The teacher is responsible for encouraging progressive reflection in learners to allow their personnel growth and development. (Sarah Wayt Bsc MAR) 2008. This can be reflected within the teaching cycle as Formative Assessment (Dave Watts 2007) or facilitating learners.
The responsibilities of the teacher do not stop their, they will in the planning stage of the teaching cycle be responsibility for identify the material required the environment most suitable, how they will assess what the learners have learnt how if changes are required they will make these changes. If the learner is required to fulfil certain elements within a curriculum the teacher has a responsibility to ensure these are covered.

The teacher ultimately has a responsibility to ensure they have the knowledge, literacy and numeracy skills to teach and can be as adaptable as possible through communication to deal with any situation that may arise.
With the teachers responsibilities identified what is their role in respect of the teaching cycle' The main role is to facilitate good communication, to achieve this the teacher needs to facilitate a safe learning environment where the learners feel comfortable and a trusting relationship is established (Sarah Wayt Bsc MAR) 2008.
The teacher will simultaneously manage the group they are teaching, manage
the activity they are doing as well as managing the learning. This role can be expanded to acting as devils advocate, acting as the neutral person or as the chair as the situation demands.( www.faculty.londondeanery.ac.uk)
So do teachers have a role to play in keeping up to date with technology it can be argued that if the technology the teacher uses is becoming obsolete that they have a responsibility to change and a role to play in learning the new skill to enable their teaching.
Learners write, produce and present their own television programmes that are broadcast on the network. These are autonomous, but guided activities, with teachers on hand to provide technical or organisational help if it is required. In Minneapolis, an entire year of 90 students on one externally funded project were each loaned a laptop no good if the teacher could not facilitate the learning on the computer.

'Within the next decade the film will replace print'. (Thomas Edison, 1913).
'I predict a time when computers will weigh no more than one and a half tons'. (Popular Mechanics, 1949).*
The teachers role will vary dependent on where and what they are teaching.(preparing to teach. Anne Gavells) 2008.
Boundaries can be visible or invisible.
Boundaries are important for the teachers to recognise limitations and realise when change is required. There are certain boundaries that are at the core of all teaching which include the learner teacher relationship and recognising the leaner’s needs especially if they fall outside that of the teacher remit. Reflection within the session as well as at the end of the session can assist in revisiting boundaries as well as evaluating the session.
The teacher has to be aware of there own boundaries eg language if the leaner/s are not fluent in the teachers language. The initial assessment of the learners which falls into the teachers responsibilities for planning a session may identify this and the teacher may choose to address this through use of different teaching materials. Alternatively the teacher may choose direct the learner/s to an alternative learning environment.
Boundaries that could effect the planning are changes in policy for the organisation that my learners come from that means I could be teaching them incorrect information.
Lack of resources could lead to a visible boundary for the teacher delivering the lesson if the teacher has not planned and investigated what resources are available.
