ASSIGNMENT 1/1: DESCRIBE WHAT YOUR ROLE, RESPOSIBILITIES AND BOUNDRIES WOULD BE AS A TEACHER IN TERMS OF THE TEACHING/TRAING CYCLE.
A teacher plays variuos roles, and has much responsiblity and should be aware and know the bopundries according to the teaching/training cycle which are needs analysis, aims & abjectives, content, method and resourses, assesessment and finally evaluation
Needs Analysis: - to identify the needs the teacher would need to consider the following, the learners preferred learning styles, any special needs, the learners motivations and any previous experiences in the subject that is being taught educational or otherwise and also the organisations needs quality and professional standards.. I as a tutor would need to do an initial assessement to identify the learners’ needs and motivation as I teach in the complimentary and lifestykle sector, as there are no entry educational qualifications as such.
Aims & Objectives – I would prepare the scheme of works and lesson plans for the classes making sure the the lessons are pitched at the right level eg begginers, intermediate advanced depending on the class being taught, there is a safe learning environment and health and safety issues are taken into account. Also time allocated for each lesson is taken into account and teaching room and its requirements.
Content, method and resources –I would develop interesting ways to delivery learning taking into account the different learning styles incorporarting visual, auditory and kinaesthetic ensuring learneres have equal rights to and provide opportunity to re-ecvvaluate what is already known while exploring aims and objectives from different perspectives. As I teach breathing, relaxation & meditation it is important to establish an open and trusting environment in which learning ais taking place. Provide pastoral care in this sense can be applied to listening; supporting, encouraging and befriending ensuring no boundries are crossed. I would have to also ensure that all the resources needed for each session is taken into account and all the equipment is to the required standards.
Assessment – From initial assessment there is continual ongoing assessment is taking place, through visual observation as my course leans towards this, to ensure smooth delivery my responsibilty is to continulally reassess development and change during the course and creat a fluid transition, as learners develop a better understanding of their aims and obljectives their needs change and this reflects in the continuous reassessment. Also verbal feedback is continuously used.
Evaluation – It is the teacheres’ resposibility to monitor , evaluate and inmprove the the quality effectiveness of their delivery by taking into account learners changing needs. The role of a teacher is also more of a facilitator, as group learning is more encourged, the Individual learning plans are used extensively as part of evaluating the learners progress and self reflection at the end of each session also helps to develop the adaption and flexibillity as part of the on going cycle of teaching and training.
