Some staff may go out of their Advanced team teach validation period (of 12 months) during this period. | Staff & client group, general public | * All staff that are out of advanced licence are booked onto the first available course’s as a matter of urgency. * Team teach Advanced is refreshed annually, Staff will have had advanced training and knowledge of the techniques. * Staff will still have valid Team teach basic training. * 95% of the Team Teach concept is training skills in individual behaviour management de-escalation support techniques that greatly reduce the need for any physically restrictive positive handling. * Staff who are temporarily out of advanced licence will continue to use their training and employ all other appropriate Team Teach techniques other than ground holds. * Restrictive physical support is always used as a total last resort and in line with the key duty of care justifications stated in company policy procedure and: children’s act volume 5 regulation and guidance. 2.98. Regulation 17A requires that restraint must only be used for the purpose of: preventing injury to any person, including the child being restrained; preventing serious damage to the property of any person including the child being held. * In the extreme circumstance that an intervention goes to a ground hold either due to being in order of duty of care to prevent certain harm or as a result of a young person taking a standing hold to the floor, STAFF OUT OF LISCENCE WILL COMPLETE A DYNAMIC RISK ASSESSMENT AND COMPLETE ONE OF THE FOLLOWING:- * RELEASE THE HOLD IMMEDIATELY OTHER THAN IF AN IMMEDIATE RELEASE WOULD LEAD TO SIGNIFICANT HARM TO THE CYP OR TO SOMEONE ELSE; * BE LEAD BY ANOTHER STAFF MEMBER WHO IS IN ADVANCED LICENSE * HOLD THE YOUNG PERSON AND MOVE TO ANOTHER HOLD AS SOON AS SAFELY POSSIBLE. * All Staff will maintain their ‘duty of care’ to the young person at all times in line with dynamic risk assessments completed during the incident. | 4 | | Low | Assessment carried out by J Fielden (Deputy Manager) Signed: Date: 01-02-2012
