Pseudoscience

Pseudoscience is an idea that claims to be real, but in fact is not supported by any science or evidence. It often uses scientific language to describe a product which someone is making money from. Astrology is a type of Pseudoscience. Astrology provides information about human affairs, personalities and naturally earthly occurrences. It consists of a group of beliefs, traditions and systems which relates to the celestial bodies. Astrology is considered a pseudoscience because it is based on assumptions and predictions. It lacks substantial evidence and statistics to support its belief. Astrology is listed as Pseudoscientific by the scientific community. In Astrology, many assumptions are made about the past, present, and future. The ideas from Astrology are usually inconsistent and vague. Astrologists tend to contradict each other on different forms of astrology. In pseudoscience, claims are made when insufficient evidence is provided. However, science requires the claims to be verifiable during experiments. Therefore, Astrology is pseudoscience since their theory isn’t based on evidence and can’t be verified. There isn’t a way to prove that it is connected to reality. Biology, Physics, Chemistry are all supported with evidence to show that they are accurate. On the other hand, Astrology lacks sufficient amount of evidence to prove their claim is accurate. Astrology is indicated as pseudoscience since their beliefs aren’t proven to be accurately accepted. Astrology doesn’t appeal to authority since it doesn’t have instant credibility. Astrologists usually aren’t seen in a white lab coat or anything similar to it. Astrology is also based on ancient wisdom. The tools they used shouldn’t be able to develop what we have today. In the past, alchemy was a common tradition to incorporate astronomy. Horoscopes are used to calculate ancient astrology, but it still doesn’t have enough evidence to support their claim. Even though they had the right idea, but there weren’t any real evidence to support their theories. Many thinkers, scientists and philosophers contributed to try and prove astrology as relevant. However, none were successful in providing sufficient amount of realistic evidence. Pre-cognition is common in astrology. People tend to foresee or dream about things that might happen in the future. Although there isn’t any evidence for this, but there are many coincidence cases that happens to many types pseudoscience. Astrology isn’t proven with evidence that it is correct. It is based on predictions and assumptions that might happen in reality. There is no guaranteed that astrology is trustworthy and works. Astrology was rejected in the Islamic world during the 2nd millennium AD. They compared astrology with science and wasn’t able to provide evidence to show it to be similar. In the end, the Muslims started viewing astrology as a negative. After the scientific revolution, astrology became known as the superstition by many natural scientists. Many researches have failed to show statistics to relate predictions and the outcome. Scientific theories are lead to experiments which are controlled and repeatable. However, pseudoscientific theories are the opposite of scientific theories. Controls are not present in pseudoscientific theories because there are no real factors or evidence needed to be changed to correct the result. On the other hand, scientific theories can be controlled by eliminating any obstacles which might have affected the result. Repeatability is also not present in a pseudoscientific theory. It cannot be proven since there aren’t evidence that will lead everyone to arrive at the same exact result. In conclusion, some people still sees astrology as scientific since it tells people about themselves even though it is all just predictions and assumptions. Even though astrology is not scientific proven, but some people feel that it is a simple way to gain knowledge about their own celestial being. Some people lack critical thinking and enjoys shortcuts to seeking what they want.
