------------------------------------------------- Pros and Cons of Tiger Woods Sex Scandal ------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------- There are many reasons why Tiger Woods should be reinstated by the companies that dropped him. Tiger Woods should be brought back as a sponsor just as he was before the scandal broke. Of course Tiger should not have cheated with those different women. Tiger Woods has upset his family and his fans. There is no way that Tiger could have been thinking about the “What if’s” at the time of his infidelities. However, the fact still remains that this is not something that has just happened for the first time. It has happened to several of our pro athletes. It even happened with one of our president. It is not the fact that things like this cannot continue to go on, it is the fact that we are not the ones to punish Tiger for what he chose to do. Right or wrong, it has nothing to do with Tiger’s career as a professional golfer' Tiger should be held accountable for his actions. But he should be held accountable by his (ex) wife, not the media , fans or even the endorsers. ------------------------------------------------- When looking at this situation from a moral aspect, Tiger Woods apologized to the public for the wrong that he did. He is also trying to get back to where he was before all of this happened. Based on the fact that Tiger Woods made a lot of money for his family and the companies he worked with, there should be some consideration from everyone to back off and let Tiger and his family move on. As far as his (ex) wife goes, I really feel bad for her and I can relate to her feelings because this may be something that she will never forget. On the other hand, sometimes we have to let the past go and move forward. Tiger Woods personal life should not affect his career to the point where he cannot still provide for his family. Honestly, he is no different than the rest of the us. Tiger Woods is not a judge. He is not a law official of any kind. He is definitely not a preacher. He is simply a professional golf player who cheated on his wife with several women. Are these women considered to be victims too' Is Tiger Woods the only bad guy in this whole ordeal' ------------------------------------------------- In my opinion one of the major concerns of the commercial industry as it related to Tiger Woods was the perception of the general public. Due to the growing awareness of political correctness, the commercial industry always tries to straddle the fence and keep their personal opinions separate from their business acumen. Business owners do not want to offend the animal rights activist, the gay rights activist, the Black race, the Caucasian race, Hispanics or female consumers. As we all know the bottom line for business owners is profit. ------------------------------------------------- Tiger Woods was pursued because of his marketability and name recognition. His was a household name that the majority of the country recognized and made synonymous with the epitome of professionalism. His name conjured up images of a home grown, grassroots son of America who through guidance of his father and support of his mother took days, weeks, months and years of hard work and practice and made it to the top of his chosen career and profession. In this time of rally around America, why not choose a top of the line professional without any public scandal or spectacles.(That we knew of) At a time when all other professional athletes were barhopping, getting caught with strippers, fighting teammates, slapping coaches and holding out for more money , Tiger Woods was displaying an image that epitomized the consummate professional athlete and businessman. ------------------------------------------------- These actions brought a lot of media attention to Tiger Woods, especially in a sport that the popularity was starting to wan. So, to say that the Professional Golf Association owes a bit of monetary support to Tiger Woods, my immediate answer would be yes. Reason being, Tiger Woods brought a new group of supporters to the golfing industry. His play alone brought in millions of the younger generation wanting no longer to be like Mike(Michael Jordan), but to be like Tiger. His business savvy brought millions of dollars to the golfing industry by the clothing that he wore and the shoes he played in, to include the head gear and golfing equipment. Again, that would be my immediate answer. ------------------------------------------------- Because the bottom line of any business is profit, I think that a lot of the companies that endorsed Tiger Woods did not do the right thing by pulling their endorsements. The same way that Tiger woods expected to be compensated for his commercial appearances, it was reasonably expected that he would maintain the wholesome image that he was hired to present. Even though Tiger Woods eroded the public trust with his actions, he has suffered enormously for his actions and so has his family. Although he violated the unspoken trust of the business owners that hired him to make their product look good, Tiger should be given a chance to regain the trust and support from his family and fans. In public opinion, he not only broke his marriage vows, he made some foolhardy decisions with the quality of women that he decided to have personal dealings with. ------------------------------------------------- Regaining trust may not be so easy for Tiger.“It’s now up to me to make amends, and that starts by never repeating the mistakes I’ve made,” Woods said. “It’s up to me to start living a life of integrity.” “He’s an American hero. And he’s had his issues, “Finchem said. “At the end of the day, he’s a human being”. We all make mistakes. Tiger’s mom stated that her son has a good heart and a good soul, but he made some mistakes. She stated that he didn’t do anything illegal. Tiger Woods is not a judge, or a public official. He is just like you and me. If his (ex) wife decides to forgive him, we must respect her wishes and their privacy and let them go on with their life. -------------------------------------------------
