RESEARCH PROJECT- DRAFT PROPOSAL- 1ST 12-03-12 FACTORS AFFECTING AFRO-CARIBBEAN PEOPLE ASSESSING COUNSELLING IN UK INTRODUCTION (800 WORDS) I will begin by addressing the research problem and why it is important and what I hope to accomplish. And what is the problem under investigation. For instance, acknowledging the social, economic and political factors that affect ethnic minority groups, which prevent them from attaining equal access to counselling services. The problem under investigation will be the (hypothesis). “Service planning and provision that adversely affects access to counselling for Afro-Caribbean people” LITERATURE REVIEW (1800 WORDS) I will be completing a literature review of about 1800 words from the most recent and relevant articles, through the use of previous research papers, and them I will critically evaluate the literature in order to get the most relevant information to confirm my hypothesis. The sources of my literature review will be counselling journals and relevant books about transcultural counselling and websites. METHODOLOGY (1700 WORDS) I will be completing my research method of about 1700 words, which will include a quantitative and qualitative approach. The qualitative method will be used to achieve a reliable outcome for instance: interview with counselling agencies will provide qualitative data, while questionnaires from potential ethnic minority clients will provide the quantitative data. I will be interviewing Afro-Caribbean people who have not had counselling, and Copies of consent forms, debriefing forms and questionnaires for interviews and survey will be included in this research. CONCLUSION/SUMMARY (700 WORDS) This area will cover the summary of the project, the research hypothesis, my findings and my recommendation for future research in this subject.
